Best Twitter reactions to the Jacksonville Jaguars drafting RB Tank Bigsby in Round 3
It's not hyperbole to say that the Jacksonville Jaguars' decision to take Auburn running back Tank Bigsby with the 88th overall selection in the 2023 NFL Draft wasn't overly popular. But putting aside how armchair experts might feel about the pick, it's hard to justify the pick when you take into account that the Jags could have addressed other needs on Day 2 of the draft.
While it's true that the addition of Bigsby can potentially turn the running back position into a strength, the Jaguars have yet to round out their cornerback group or bolstered their pass rush. The team's brass still have several picks and general manager Trent Baalke told the local media after Day 2 concluded that they're ready to use them all. However, the team's odds of finding playmakers in Rounds 5 to 7 are slim.
During his exchange with the media, Baalke said that he wanted to trade back into the third round but wasn't able to strike a deal. Maybe if he had pulled it off and drafted a cornerback, the decision to select Bigsby at No. 88 might have looked better.
The early reviews of the Jaguars drafting Tank Bigsby aren't great
Not long after John Shipley of Sports Illustrated pointed out that the Jags have drafted running backs for three straight years, a fan replied with an Alex Jones meme.
Mr. @FarNorCal1 wasn't alone though. Another fan said that he wasn't particularly impressed with the addition of Bigsby.
Most of the criticism surrounding the Bigsby pick isn't about the former Auburn Tiger but rather the team's failure to address the need in favor of making upgrades to a position that was already stacked.
Several fans noted that head coach Doug Pederson didn't seem particularly thrilled during the media availability session following Day 2 and they brought it up.

Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union is right. It's not healthy to read too much into Pederson's reaction. After all, someone once said that sometimes, a cat is just a cat or something along those lines. Then again, it's also possible that Pederson is legitimately displeased with the decision to draft Bigsby.
Either way, the Jaguars need to get back to work and if they can hit it out of the ballpark on Day 3 and come out with a handful of key contributors, nobody will give too much thought to the decision to draft Bigsby. The Jags got off to a strong start on Day 1 but then went off track. It's up to them to finish strong.
