Quarterback is without a doubt the most important position on an NFL team, and the second most important is his backup. For this reason, clubs must have an adequate option in place if the starter goes down. In the Jacksonville Jaguars' case, Trevor Lawrence is firmly entrenched as QB1 on the depth chart but not just that. He's also the face of the franchise and it's fair to say the Jags' chances of making a deep playoff run would take a hit.

Having said that, Jacskonville could stay afloat because they've put together a well-rounded roster over the last two years. Of course, whoever ends up lining up at center if Lawrence misses time with injuries won't be nearly as good as him. However, the Jaguars wouldn't come crashing down either.

So who would the Jaguars lean on if they lost Trevor Lawrence to injury? Here are four emergency options:

No. 4 Jaguars QB option if Trevor Lawrence gets hurt: CJ Beathard

If the starting quarterback plays well and doesn't get hurt throughout the season, the backup will enter the field only for mop-up duty or if the game becomes too lopsided. Fortunately for the Jaguars, CJ Beathard has only had to get behind center a handful of times over the last two seasons.

A third-round selection by the San Francisco 49ers in 2017, Beathard signed with the Jags in 2021. Once his contract expired, he inked another two-year deal, which goes on to show that the team's brass feels comfortable about him stepping in Lawrence's place if needed.

Sure, Beathard helps Lawrence with preparation on the days preceding the game but the Jaguars also kept him around because they think he can fare well if called upon. Having said that, there would be a steep dropoff from Lawrence to Beathard, so Jacksonville might consider other alternatives outside the building.
