The Jacksonville Jaguars were steamrolled by the Denver Broncos in Week 2. The silver lining is that they weren't the only team in the AFC South that failed to muster a win. In fact, the division went 0-4 and is 1-7 two games into the regular season. That's most definitely something to brag about.
Anyway, the Jags have a one-game lead over their AFC South foes, but are they really better than any of them? With this in mind, here's a division ranking going into Week 3.

4. Indianapolis Colts (0-2)
After starting 8-2 in 2025, the Indianapolis Colts rode a seven-game losing skid to end the year. Surprisingly, they have managed to sink even further despite the fact that Daniel Jones is back in the lineup after suffering Achilles and fibula injuries last season.
Even though Indy gave the Kansas City Chiefs its all and took things to the wire, it wasn't enough to get the W. Then again, Jones isn't at fault. He doesn't have any competent receivers to throw the ball to, and the defense has struggled the past two games (although it was a bit better against the Chiefs). The Colts just signed Darious Slayton, but he probably won't move the needle.
Either way, Indy has an aging roster and doesn't have enough playmakers to make a realistic push for the playoffs. Sure, he'll keep playing hard for head coach Shane Steichen, but effort can only take you so far.
3. Tennessee Titans (0-2)
Like many teams with a new head coach (not the 2025 Jaguars, though), the Tennessee Titans are going to take baby steps, and their progress won't always be reflected in the win-loss column. In Week 2, the Titans lost to a superior Philadelphia Eagles team, but quarterback Cam Ward showed signs of progress. His statline would have looked much better if he had gotten more help from his supporting cast.
The defense also showed effort, even if it wasn't enough to stop Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia offense. Even if Tennessee doesn't become a playoff team in 2026, expect head coach Robert Saleh's staff to give the Jaguars fits when they face them later in the season.
2. Houston Texans (0-2)
After losing a shootout to the Buffalo Bills in the season opener, the Houston Texans showed a bit of improvement on defense in Week 2. C.J. Stroud also played well for the second game in a row, but the Texans weren't able to beat the Cincinnati Bengals, and that's because they have issues on both sides of the ball.
The Houston offensive line still leaves much to be desired, and the running game is non-existent. On defense, Danielle Hunter bounced back, but the defensive front missed Jadeveon Clowney. Compounding the issue is that the secondary has failed to hit its stride this season.
When you add it all up, it's not necessarily surprising to learn that the Texans are 0-2 to start the year.
1. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-1)
The Jaguars are the No. 1 team in the AFC South, but that's kind of by default, as they had somewhat of a meltdown in the second half of their Week 2 loss. They were simply outmatched, outcoached, and failed to make the necessary in-game adjustments to prevent Denver from mounting a comeback.
Head coach Liam Coen talked about being accountable after the loss, and nobody should bat an eye if players who failed to deliver (e.g., Brian Thomas Jr.) get fewer snaps against the New England Patriots.
While the future is bright in Duval, the Jaguars cannot afford to drop another game. Hopefully, the loss will serve as a reminder that they can get too complacent after going 13-4 last year.
