Parker Washington might've just dropped huge hint about Jaguars future

The Jacksonville Jaguars have had contract talks with Parker Washington for a while, but they haven't been able to reach a deal. Both sides are rumored to be $10 million apart in what they believe is fair compensation. The good news is that there's a chance they'll get it done before Week 1 of the regular season.

And based on a recent post on Instagram, it's possible that Washington already got the deal he was looking for.

Parker Washington may've hint at an extension with the Jaguars on social media

Parker Washington took to Instagram to post a story of himself and his agent, Zeke Sandhu. Twitter user @JiggyJagss took a screenshot and posted it.

Now, it could be nothing, but the timing is most definitely interesting. After all, Washington uploaded the story not long after insider Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported that he and the Jags could strike an extension before the regular season.

Moreover, it just came after Michael Wilson and the Arizona Cardinals reached a three-year deal worth $75 million. It wouldn't be shocking if Washington were looking for an extension with an annual average in that range.

A sixth-round pick in 2023, Washington hauled in a career-best 58 receptions for 807 yards with five touchdowns last season. The Sugar Land, Texas native is entering a contract year and is expected to have a bigger role on offense, which is why he's looking for compensation that reflects his status as a key cog on the Jacksonville offense.

As of this writing, though, nothing is imminent, but it certainly makes the whole situation worth keeping an eye on in the days heading into the regular season.

The Jaguars are better off extending Parker Washington right now

It's hard to tell just what kind of contract Parker Washington is looking for, but nobody would bat an eye if he's looking for $20 million per year. After all, that's the amount teammate Jakobi Meyers got from the Jaguars last year. Similarly, salaries at receiver have gone up since the end of 2025 because the Green Bay Packers also gave new deals to Jayden Reed and later Christian Watson.

On the other hand, Washington needs to have realistic expectations, but if he thinks he's deserving of more than $25 million per year, his best option is to bet on himself, have a banner season, and become a free agent next year. If the former Penn State Nittany Lion has the kind of campaign he thinks he's capable of having, he should have no trouble finding a suitor in 2027 that's willing to give him the deal he's aiming for.

Of course, staying in Jacksonville makes sense for Parker Washington. He's slated to be the No. 1 receiver and has built a great rapport with Trevor Lawrence. As the saying goes, he's better off with the devil he knows. Maybe he's come to realize that, which is why he posted a story with his agent on social media.
