One Jaguars roster long shot could suddenly be hard to overlook

• Maybe he can sneak in.

The Jacksonville Jaguars didn't have to make many reinforcements on the offensive line in the offseason because they brought back most of their group of hog mollies from last year. Heck, the only meaningful addition they made up front was Emmanuel Pregnon at No. 88 in the 2026 NFL Draft. That said, the Jags did make another move that flew under the radar.

After the draft, Jacksonville signed Garrett Digiorgio as a free agent. While the rookie has a steep hill to climb to make the team, an NFL analyst offered a positive outlook.

Garrett Digiorgio is projected to have a shot at making the Jaguars 53-man roster

Josh Edwards of CBS Sports drew up a list of undrafted rookies for each NFL team who could make a push for a roster spot. For the Jaguars, he chose Garrett DiGiorgio, citing his flexibility to play different positions and football awareness.

"Digiorgio can clean up some technical aspects of the game but has a natural feel for football, as well as position versatility," Edwards wrote. "In 2025 alone, he played right tackle, left tackle, and right guard, which is probably his best position moving forward."

During the draft process, Brandon Thorn of the Bleacher Report scouting department gave Digiorgio a fourth-round grade, arguing that he could develop into a high-end backup or even a starter down the road in spite of his "marginal athleticism."

In his assessment of Digiorgio, Thorn praised his football awareness and aggressive playing style. On the other hand, he noted that the former UCLA Bruin lacks foot quickness and is better suited to play guard due to his less-than-ideal length.

Circling back to Edward's prediction, he states that cornerback Devon Marshall and quarterback Joey Aguilar could also sneak onto the roster.

"NC State cornerback Devon Marshall and Tennessee quarterback Joey Aguilar are positioned to push for a roster spot as well," Edwards said.

This isn't the first time Marshall has been seen as a dark horse to make the team. On the other hand, Joey Aguilar has a steep hill to climb, as he's struggled at times during OTAs, and Carter Bradley is seemingly entrenched as QB3 on the depth chart.

Could Garrett Digiorgio truly make the Jaguars 53-man roster?

If there's one thing this Jaguars regime has made clear, it's that everyone has to compete for their job, and even if you're at the bottom of the depth chart, you'll have a shot to make the team if you put in your best effort.

Just last year, defensive ends Danny Striggow and B.J. Green II cracked the initial 53-man roster after going undrafted, so nobody would bat an eye if Garrett Digiorgio or any other undrafted rookie gets the nod. With that said, does he truly stand a chance?

Jacksonville is stacked on the offensive line. Patrick Mekari, Walker Little, Cole Van Lanen, Wyatt Milum, Ezra Cleveland, and Anton Harrison started last year. Aside from rookie Emmanuel Pregnon, sophomores Wyatt Milum and Jonah Monheim are also in the mix. That's nine roster spots.

Veteran Chuma Edoga is also around, but he's expected to be a cap casualty. Unless the Jags carry 10 offensive linemen or Cleveland is traded, which could potentially happen, Digiorgio may not have a clear path to make the team. But even then, he could end up landing in the practice squad.

That would be a suitable outcome, as Digoirgio could continue honing his skills and compete for a roster spot next year.

Maybe if the Jaguars didn't have so many options on the offensive line, Garrett Digiorgio would have a better chance to make the roster. It shouldn't be ruled out just yet, though, but his odds appear to be slim at this stage of the offseason.
