The Jacksonville Jaguars are giving Trevor Lawrence a wide array of weapons for next season. While Brian Thomas Jr. and Parker Washington are currently getting most of the spotlight (and deservedly so), it's easy to forget that Jakobi Meyers made an impact as soon as the Jags traded for him at the midpoint of 2025.

Meyers wasn't Jacksonville's most productive receiver last year, but you could make the case that he was the most reliable one. As soon as he arrived, the former North Carolina State Wolfpack helped fix the team's drop issues. Now, he's entering his second season in Duval and should be even more productive, even with Meyers and Thomas in the fold.

Sure, Meyers may not get 1,000 yards receiving next year, as the Jags like to spread the ball. Having said that, opponents can't afford to overlook him. This is why it isn't particularly shocking to see him get some recognition ahead of the 2026 season.

The Jaguars have one of the most underrated NFL receiver in Jakobi Meyers

Kristopher Knox drew up a list of the most underrated receivers in the NFL and included Jakobi Meyers, noting that he became a trusted target for Trevor Lawrence after leaving the Las Vegas Raiders.

"In nine games with Jacksonville, Meyers caught 42 passes for 483 yards and three touchdowns," Knox wrote. "He also provided a 95.2 passer rating when targeted, which is impressive for a player joining a new system midseason."

Meyers also showed consistency when holding onto the football, logging just two dropped passes in nine games with the Jags. For context, Parker Washington had six, Dyami Brown had four, and Brian Thomas Jr. logged nine.

This is even more impressive when you take into account that Meyers joined the Jags midseason, so he didn't have enough time to learn the offense. Nevertheless, he still found a way to produce.

Heck, Meyers made such an impression that the Jaguars gave him the extension he had been waiting for since his days with the Raiders, a three-year deal worth $60 million.

And that's the thing: Jacksonville traded for Meyers because it needed reinforcements at receiver in light of Travis Hunter's season-ending injury. But Meyers had also been waiting out of Las Vegas because his request for a new deal had fallen on deaf ears. Looking back, it was a win-win situation.

Jakobi Meyers will be a playmaker for the Jaguars once again in 2026

What's impressive about Jakobi Meyers is that he showed up in Jacksonville and produced from Day 1. At the time, he didn't know the system, and the coaching staff didn't have plays designed for him. The expectation is that he'll be even better in 2026, as he got to spend a full offseason with the Jags.

It's also worth noting that Meyers was a highly productive receiver before landing with the Jags, so it's hard to see him taking a step back. Sure, he won't be able to put up Pro Bowl-caliber numbers because Brian Thomas Jr. and Parker Washington will also get their fair share of targets. But precisely because they'll also command attention from opposing teams, Meyers will find favorable matchups.

When you add it all up, Jakobi Meyers is poised to have a pretty good year, even if his statline won't reflective. Then again, that won't matter as long as he helps the Jaguars make plays and move the chains on a consistent basis.
