When the Jacksonville Jaguars signed Jake Bobo to an offer sheet, it seemed like they were getting depth at receiver and a contributor on special teams. However, the Seattle Seahawks aren't letting him leave.
Bobo was a restricted free agent after signing with the Hawks in 2023. They gave him an original tender, which allowed other teams to match. The Jags did, giving him a two-year deal worth $5 million with $4.5 million guaranteed. Based on the amount, the Jags offered, it looked like Seattle was going to lose him.
But even after giving Jaxon Smith-Njigba a blockbuster extension that will pay him an annual average of more than $42 million through 2030, the Seahawks made it clear just how much they value Bobo, matching Jacksonville's offer sheet.
With Bobo staying in Seattle, the Jags will have to look somewhere else for help at receiver. Fortunately, there are several compelling options out there, and one, in particular, stands out.
The Jaguars could pursue Jauan Jennings after missing out on Jake Bobo
After the initial free agency spending, the wide receiver pool is a bit shallow, but a few options remain available: Stefon Diggs, Tyreek Hill, DeAndre Hopkins, Curtis Samuel, and Jauan Jennings are still looking for a new team.
While Hill and Hopkins have plenty of name recognition, they may be past their prime. Moreover, the former is recovering from an ACL injury he suffered early in the 2025 season. On the other hand, Diggs just posted a 1,000-yard campaign with the New England Patriots, but he comes with plenty of baggage that may be giving teams pause. That leaves Jennings as arguably the best of the bunch.
Jennings is coming off a pair of productive seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, reeling in 643 yards with nine touchdowns on 55 catches in 2025 and nearly reaching the 1,000-yard mark the year prior. Surprisingly, the San Francisco 49ers let him walk in free agency. Even more shocking is the fact that no team has made a run for him, even though he's entering the prime of his NFL career.
Spotrac projected Jennings to get $22 million per year in free agency, but teams clearly don't think that he's worth that amount. Given that he remains unsigned two weeks after free agency began, he'll need to lower his salary demands. That's where the Jags come in.
If the Jags were willing to make a commitment to Jake Bobo, perhaps they could fork out a bit more money to land Jennings if (and that's a big IF) the price is right.
Why the Jaguars may not want to pursue Jauan Jennings
Jaguars fans may best remember Jauan Jennings for a game in which safety Rayshawn Jenkings punched him (and was subsequently ejected) back in 2021. But that won't matter if he can help win Jacskonville games.
The issue is that Jennings may still be looking for top-market money. The Jaguars will most definitely match his contract demands, but if he's willing to take a one-year deal worth $10 million to bet on himself like Dyami Brown in 2025, signing him then makes sense.
It would probably be more than what the Jags want to spend at receiver, especially when you take into account that they have Parker Washington, Brian Thomas Jr., Travis Hunter, and Parker Washington around.
That said, it doesn't hurt the Jags to check what Jennings wants. If not, they can simply pivot to the draft. If that's the case, maybe someone like Ted Hurst at No. 100 would be an intriguing option.
