The Jacksonville Jaguars are 7-4 and in the thick of the playoff race. On top of that, they'll have a favorable schedule the rest of the way, having already dealt with the toughest gauntlet of games early in the season. On the other hand, they're about to embark on a stretch in which they'll play four divisional games.
The Jags have yet to play the Indianapolis Colts this season, but when they do, they will probably have an advantage, based on the latest injury news.
The Jaguars could face an injured Daniel Jones when they play the Colts
Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Daniel Jones has fractured his fibula, adding that he was a full participant in practice today.

Jones has been dealing with a leg injury, so the update isn't necessarily surprising. However, he was listed as limited on the injury report Wednesday. Moreover, he's gotten a decreased number of reps. It's possible that the last rash of injuries is responsible for the 2019 first-round pick's lackluster performance in recent weeks.
Jones got off to a strong start to the season and was even dubbed a legitimate MVP candidate. However, he's slowed particularly since then. The past three weeks, in particular, the seventh-year quarterback back has completed 64.5 percent of his throws for 778 yards with four touchdowns and four interceptions. All things considered, that's not a bad statline, but there's a steep dip in production, without a doubt.
It's worth noting that Jones has been the talk of the town this season because his stock was at an all-time low when he signed with Indy. The Duke product flashed potential throughout his stint with the New York Giants but struggled so badly in 2024 that he was kicked to the curb. He would then join the Minnesota Vikings practice squad to finish the season.

The Jaguars will need to take advantage of their edge vs. the Colts
The Jacksonville Jaguars will play the Indianapolis Colts in Weeks 14 and 17. It's hard to see Daniel Jones getting healthier for any of the two games. On the other hand, there's a chance his injury will get worse. That would give the Jags an edge. That said, they can't afford to take their AFC South foe lightly if Jones is either hurt or unavailable.
Granted, there's a drop-off from Jones to the inconsistent Anthony Richardson, but the Colts excel at toting the rock, with running back Jonathan Taylor leading the way. Moreover, their defense ranks ninth in points allowed despite the fact that All-Pro defensive tackle DeForest Buckner has missed time with injury and won't be available for the Jacksonville game.
Ultimately, the Jaguars are in a prime position to repel the dreaded divisional rival Colts later this season. It's up to them to take advantage of their edge. The fact that they could seize the AFC South should incentivize them.
