The Jacksonville Jaguars are dealing with key injuries at the midpoint of the season. They just lost defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton and safety Eric Murray for the year, so nobody will bat an eye if general manager James Gladstone takes a swing at the November 10 deadline in an effort to replace either one.
However, the Jags could also address the pass rush, which has left a bit to be desired this season. This becomes a realistic path when you take into account that Travon Walker sustained a rib injury in the win over the Indianapolis Colts.
But even if Walker is fine or plays through injury, Jacksonville should consider reaching out to the Arizona Cardinals and inquiring about Josh Sweat, who could be available at the deadline.
The Jaguars could trade for Josh Sweat to bolster their pass rush
NFL insider Jordan Schultz reports that the belief across the league is that Josh Sweat would be open to changing teams, noting that it will ultimately be up to the Cardinals to trade him.
On the other hand, Schultz notes that Arizona's asking price for Sweat may be too high. Although he doesn't say what that price is, it's believed that the Cards could get a third or even a second-round pick in return for him.
The Jaguars will probably prioritize making a trade to replace DaVon Hamilton, but if they don't find a compelling option, they should most definitely turn their attention to Sweat.
While the Jacksonville pass rush hasn't been dreadful, it hasn't been great either. The group has done an adequate job of pressuring the quarterback but isn't generating enough big plays (e.g., sacks).
Travon Walker leads the team with three sacks, and Josh Hines-Allen is second with two. Sweat has as many as Walker this season and could most definitely turbocharge the pass rush from the get-go.
A fourth-round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2018, Sweat landed with the Cardinals in 2025, where he was reunited with Jonathan Gannon, his defensive coordinator in Philly. In fact, the Pro Bowl pass rusher wasn't thrilled that Arizona kicked Gannon to the curb in 2026, which is why he's been the subject of trade rumors throughout the year.

Why the Jaguars may ultimately not trade for Josh Sweat
As much as Josh Sweat could help the Jaguars, there are a couple reasons they may not pursue him. The biggest one — as noted before — is that they may focus on finding a replacement for DaVon Hamilton. But aside from that, B.J. Green II could soon come out of the Injured Reserve list.
Green landed on IR early in the season. If he's close to returning, Jacksonville may not be interested in bolstering the pass rush and will instead focus on addressing the interior defensive line and the safety room.
In the end, though, the Jaguars need to bring in as many reinforcements as possible, regardless of the position. After all, they're in a prime position to begin a playoff run. Bringing in a player of Josh Sweat's caliber would only increase their odds.
