The Jacksonville Jaguars picked up what might be a season-defining victory against the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football, as their 31-28 comeback victory might be one of the sweetest regular-season victories of the Trevor Lawrence era.
Lawrence certainly has a flair for the chaotic, as evidenced by him following up some nightmare throws with dimes deep down the field to Brian Thomas Jr. and incredibly zany game-sealing touchdown runs that started after getting stepped on by an offensive lineman.
It's going to be hard for Lawrence to get a better birthday present than that, as his 26th birthday came complete with some of the greatest plays of his professional career. Playing against No. 16 on October 6 has been a recipe for disaster dating back to his high school career.
Lawrence has now played four times on his birthday, one of which was at Cartersville High School and one of which was at Clemson. The remaining two times came in the last two years with the Jaguars. In those games, Lawrence has thrown for over 1,000 yards and 13 touchdowns, coming out a perfect 4-0 in the process.
Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence is unbeatable on his birthday
Lawrence completed 18 of his 25 passes for 211 yards with one touchdown and one interception, all while running for 54 yards and two more scores. While he did turn the ball over twice in this game, neither of those mistakes stands out as particularly egregious if you watched the game live.
His "fumble" at the one-yard line would have been a turnover on downs anyway, and his interception was the result of a missed pass interference call that was so egregious that even the rules analyst in the Monday Night booth saw that it was a clear and obvious penalty.
Scoring three times and coming back from a 14-0 deficit is impressive enough, but the fact that Lawrence did that against the reigning AFC champions and one of the best defenses in the league in primetime makes this the type of win that Jacksonville has almost never pulled off historically.
If you're lining up against Lawrence and the Jaguars on October 6, you might as well just take the L before the game even starts. There are plenty of ups and downs for Lawrence in the NFL, but he seems to be in an unshakable groove whenever he plays on his birthday.
