The Jaguars managed to beat the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 4 despite the fact that they were without cornerbacks Montaric Brown and Christian Braswell. Sure, their secondary gave up yards in chunks but ultimately limited Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati offense to a measly 17 points.
Circling back to Braswell and Brown, they had the questionable designation for the Bengals game. But based on recent updates, at least one of them may have to sit out a handful of games.
The Jaguars signed Alijah Huzzie and Jaylon Jones amid injuries at cornerback
Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 reported that the Jaguars signed Alijah Huzzie off the Houston Texans practice squad to their 53-man roster. An undrafted free agent in 2025, Huzzie signed with the Texans. Although the North Carolina Tar Heel barely played as a rookie, he got a shot and registered an interception against the Indianapolis Colts.

Jamal St. Cyr of News4Jax also broke the news that Jacksonville signed Jaylon Jones. An undrafted free agent in 2022, Jones spent the past four seasons with the Chicago Bears (with a brief stint with the Arizona Cardinals in 2025. He signed a one-year deal to remain in the Windy City early in 2026 but was placed on the Injury Reserve list to start the season. However, they released him with an injury settlement not long after, effectively allowing him to sign with another team.

If the Jaguars signed Jones, it's because they believe he's healthy enough to contribute. As of this writing, though, it's hard to tell if Jacksonville signed him to the practice squad or the active roster.
It's also worth noting that the Jags haven't announced either signing, and it will be interesting to see what corresponding moves they'll make to make room for both Jones and Huzzie.

Will the Jaguars place Montaric Brown or Christian Braswell on Injured Reserve?
Because the Jaguars reportedly signed Alijah Huzzie to the active roster, they'll need to free up a spot for him. That means that either Montaric Brown or Christian Braswell could land on the Injured Reserve list. Another, albeit less likely, possibility is that Jacksonville will release Braswell, but that would be a bit of a surprise.
It's also telling that the Jags opted to sign Huzzie to the active roster instead of sophomore Jabbar Muhammad, who was elevated via standard elevation for the win against the Bengals. Perhaps the coaching staff thinks he isn't ready, or maybe they like Huzzie's upside. Either way, Muhammad will have to wait for his chance.
In any case, Huzzie and Jones are depth signings. With Brown sitting out the Cincinnati game, Travis Hunter and Jarrian Jones were the starters in the boundaries, while Jourdan Lewis mainly lined up in the slot.
The truth is that Travis Hunter and Jarrian Jones can perfectly fill in for Montaric Brown if he has to miss time. Having said that, the Jaguars were right to bolster the depth at corner in light of injuries at the position.
