With a huge stop late in the fourth quarter, the Jacksonville Jaguars effectively prevented the Cincinnati Bengals from mounting a comeback, ultimately winning 22-17. That said, the final score wouldn't have been as close if the Jags hadn't routinely shot themselves in the foot. They entered the game with a league-low 15 penalties but had a concerning 13 against Cincy.

In fact, the Jags had 10 penalties in the first half alone, the most since the Dallas Cowboys in 2023.
One player who was directly affected by his team's penalties was Bhayshul Tuten.

The second-year running back had a strong showing in the win over the Bengals, toting the rock 17 times for 73 yards. But as dominant as Tuten was, his statline would have been even better if penalties hadn't wiped out two touchdowns he had against Cincy.

Bhayshul Tuten scored 2 TDs, but Jaguars' penatlies wiped both of them out

In the first half, Bhayshul Tuten broke off a 44-yard run that would have been a touchdown if offensive guard Ezra Cleveland hadn't been flagged for offensive holding.

Later, Tuten had another score, this time a three-yard run, called back because left tackle Anton Harrison was penalized for holding.

Had Tuten's 44-yard run counted, he might've had his first 100-yard game of the season. The silver lining is that fellow running back Chris Rodriguez also had a strong day (six carries, 35 yards) and scored.

Moreover, the Jaguars won, and Tuten will probably take that over a 100-yard game and two touchdowns in a loss.

The Jaguars need to keep feeding Bhayshul Tuten

Back in the offseason, there were doubts about Bhayshul Tuten being a capable replacement for Travis Etienne. Some of those doubts stemmed from the fact that he averaged an underwhelming 3.7 yards per carry in 2025. However, his efficiency was affected because he got way more carries than Etienne in short-yardage situations.

With Etienne out of the picture, though, Etienne has proven to be a viable No. 1 running back, toting the rock 60 times for 277 yards with one touchdown. He's also hauled in eight receptions for 54 yards. The former Virginia Hokie is on pace to cross the 1,000-yard mark, and he's yet to have 20 carries in a game. Speaking of which, it would be great to see him get a bigger role, but the coaching staff is doing the right thing by managing his workload.

Ultimately, it won't matter if the Jaguars don't give him more than 20 carries in a game. Four games into the season, it's clear that Bhayshul Tuten has become a pivotal piece of the offense.
