One of the biggest storylines surrounding the Jacksonville Jaguars this offseason is Travis Hunter's recovery from the knee injury that ended his rookie season prematurely. Although he's back on the field for mandatory minicamp, he's not practicing yet.
Nevertheless, Hunter is trending in the right direction. The same is true for Cole Van Lanen and Chris Rodriguez. They're also rehabbing injuries but should be back for training camp. Based on the comments head coach Liam Coen just made, neither has experienced setbacks.
The Jaguars provided updates on Travis Hunter, Cole Van Lanen, and Chris Rodriguez
Liam Coen met with the local media following the first mandatory minicamp practice. He said he has no updates on injured players, pointing out that both Cole Van Lanen and Chris Rodriguez will be back for training camp. Similarly, the Jaguars head coach stated that Travis Hunter is making progress in his recovery.
"Yeah, no updates on the injured guys," Coen said at the 2:00 mark. "I think they'll be, I know Chris will be full go come training camp. Cole is a part of that same process of, might be a little bit longer in training camp. We'll have to see, but Travis, I know he ran 22 six this morning outside here. He was talking a lot of smack to Chris Bach and the athletic trainers."
Coen continued, "I mean, he's worked his tail off. I got to give a lot of credit to our strength staff, athletic training, sports science. They've just kept him, not motivated because he motivates himself, but they've kept it creative for him, the drills, the way that they're pushing him and challenging him. And then he goes into the video room with each side of ball, and then he's able to get a ton of reps in there. So yeah, watching them run around this morning, hit 22 six, was pretty fun to watch."
Mia O'Brien of ESPN Radio posted on Twitter that Coel Van Lanen, Hunter Long and Chris Rodriguez weren't in attendance, but Long eventually popped up in practice wearing a hat and jersey.

Just one day before mandatory camp, it was reported that Rodriguez underwent foot surgery earlier this year but will be back for training camp. It brought clarity to his status, as it was previously unknown why he had been absent from Organized Teams Activities.
On the other hand, Van Lanen suffered a knee injury late in the 2025 season, and he's since been sidelined. If he's not back at full strength, Walker Little could step in at left tackle, which may be why Jacksonville hasn't traded him.
Meanwhile, Hunter has been putting in the work to come back from the LCL he suffered last year. All signs point toward him being back at some point in training camp.
The Jaguars aren't overly concerns about the injuries they're dealing with
Injuries are an inherent part of sports, so there's nothing the Jaguars, or any other team for that matter, can do to fully prevent them from happening. The silver lining is that Jacksonville will most likely have most of its injured players back for the season opener, barring any setbacks.
On the other hand, the Jags have the depth in case they begin the regular season with Travis Hunter, Cole Van Lanen, and Chris Rodriguez. It wouldn't be ideal, but there's a contingency plan in place if it comes to that.
However, that doesn't appear to be the case, as all three are making strides in their recovery and should be back with the Jaguars sooner rather than later.
