The first round of the 2025 NFL Draft is now in the books. Surprisingly, the Jacksonville Jaguars opted not to trade up and still have all their picks on Day 2. All things considered, they made the right call, as there's still plenty of talent left on the board. Maybe if the Jags felt they could get a game-changer, they would've moved up, but they might not have thought there was anyone worth trading for.
Now, Jacksonville has the chance to come out of Rounds 2 and 3 with a pretty good haul. And with this in mind, here's a Day 2 mock draft.
Round 2, pick No. 56: Lee Hunter, Texas Tech defensive lineman
The Jaguars would commit draft larceny if they managed to trade up to select Kayden McDonald in Round 2. However, they're surely prepared for other scenarios and have a plan in case they're not able to get the former Ohio State product.
Getting McDonald after trading for Ruke Orhorhoro would further solidify the interior defensive trenches. But Lee Hunter could most definitely help as well. Although Hunter isn't nearly as athletic, he's shown bigger pass-rush upside. That could help him earn a role right out of the gate in Jacksonville.
Round 3, pick No. 81: Gennings Dunker, Iowa State offensive lineman
Although the Jaguars are bringing back all their starters on the offensive line from last year, the group could still use an infusion of talent. Gennings Dunker would be a great addition, as he excels at creating space and using his hands to lock onto defenders. Couple that with the fact that he can line up at tackle or guard, and he would be an intriguing pickup in Round 3.
That said, the former Iowa State Cyclone doesn't have great athleticism, and his arm length makes him a candidate to play inside full-time. Either way, he could be a reserve as a rookie and compete for a starting job in 2027.
Round 3, pick No. 88: LT Overton, Alabama pass rusher
After addressing the interior defensive line in Round 2, the Jaguars bolster the pass rush at No. 88. With LT Overton, they round out their rotation behind Travon Walker and Josh Hines-Allen. While the former Alabama standout, who doesn't have great burst off the line of scrimmage and needs to hone his hand usage, has the bend and enough athleticism to get after the quarterback.
Moreover, Overton has the power to bull-rush defenders and stymie the run, making him the perfect candidate to serve as the No. 3 pass rusher in Duval.
Round 3, pick No. 100: Kyle Louis, Pitt linebacker
Like pass-rusher class, this year's batch of off-linebackers is deep, so the Jags could wait until the third round to take one and still land a playmaker. Kyle Louis most definitely fits the bill.
The biggest knock on Louis is that he lacks the size to play off-linebacker in the NFL. Nevertheless, that never stopped him from making an impact at pick. His sideline-to-sideline range and athleticism allow him to thrive against the run and in coverage.
While the Jags have Ventrell in the mix, Louis could come in and compete for the starting spot next to Foyesade Oluokun.
