The Jacksonville Jaguars will be without Montaric Brown for a while. The fourth-year cornerback suffered a leg injury and will probably miss the remainder of training camp. While they have the depth to overcome his absence, they're adding insurance at the position.
The Jags announced they've signed Levi Wallance days before the face the Pittsburgh Steelers in the preseason opener. In a corresponding move, they waived undrafted rookie Aydan White.
White signed with Jacksonville after going undrafted in 2025. He made headlines when he registered the team's first interception in training camp. On the other hand, the rookie corner gave up a big play to fellow undrafted rookie Eli Pancol on Day 6.

Can Levi Wallace make an impact for the Jaguars?
Levi Wallace signed with the Buffalo Bills after going undrafted in 2018. He was on and off the starting lineup during his four-year stint with the Bills but ended up making 52 starts and registering six interceptions. The Alabama product then spent two years with the Pittsburgh Steelers and signed with the Denver Broncos last year. However, he was cut late in the season due to ineffectiness.
In fact, Wallace struggled so badly that he was made a healthy scratch against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 15. This begs the question, why would the Jags add him? It's simple: They need depth at corner.
In Jacksonville, Wallace won't be competing for a starting job. Even without Montaric Brown, the top of the cornerback is in good shape with Jourdan Lewis, Tyson Campbell, Travis Hunter, and Jarrian Jones. Having said that, the team could use depth.
With Aydan White gone, the backup cornerbacks are Zech McPhearson and sophomore DeAntre Prince. Both of them lack experience, so the Jaguars may want to have a veteran around that will be ready to go when thrust into action. Enter Wallace.
Despite his struggles, Wallace is a serviceable backup. He won't be making the Pro Bowl anytime soon but he fared relatively well before his underwhelming stint with the Broncos. It's also worth noting that Brown will return at some point of the regular season. The team hasn't offered a timeline, but head coach Liam Coen didn't sound overly worried when discussing his absence.
If Brown returns before the opener against the Carolina Panthers, Wallance could get the boot. Then again, his presence adds insurance in case the Jags suffer another injury at corner. And if they do, he might have a chance to stick around.
The bottom line is that this is the time of the year that teams begin to experience injuries, and adding Levi Wallace to the mix helps the Jaguars prepare themselves.
