The Jacksonville Jaguars did a good job of addressing the larger scale roster in the offseason. However, not all the moves they made panned out. One in particular has left much to be desired.

To bolster their wide receiver corps, the Jags signed Dyami Brown to a one-year deal in free agency because they expected him to build off of his strong finish to 2024. For a brief moment, it looked like they got a steal, as the fifth-year wide receiver made a strong impression in training camp and later got off to a hot start to the regular season. However, he's slowed down considerably in recent weeks. And with the latest decision, the coaching staff just showed how they feel about him.

The Jaguars made Dyami Brown a healthy scratch vs. the Titans

The Jaguars announced their inactives for the Week 13 game against the Tennessee Titans, and one name stood out: Dyami Brown. By making him a healthy scratch, the Jaguars are making it clear that they have no use for him. Then again, the writing was on the wall when he only logged four snaps in the 27-24 overtime win over the Arizona Cardinals.

With Brian Thomas Jr. joining Parker Washington, Jakobi Meyers, and Tim Patrick, Jacksonville no longer had use for Brown. And barring injuries at receiver, it's hard to see him getting meaningful playing time the rest of the season.

What's baffling about the whole thing is that Brown showed out in training camp and got off to a hot start in the regular season, hauling in eight receptions for 109 yards with one touchdown the first two games.

However, the former North Carolina Tar Heel has only logged 11 catches for 110 yards since then. Granted, he suffered a shoulder injury that hindered his production but has been healthy for a while, and his production has decreased.

You could make the case that the writing was on the wall for Brown when the Jags traded for Jakobi Meyers, who's turned out to be everything they expected Brown to be.

What's next for Dyami Brown?

At this point, it's hard to see Dyami Brown returning to the Jaguars next year. There's a chance that he could get hot in the final stretch of the season like he did last year. But for that to happen, he would need to take a step back during his benching, see what's wrong, and put it all together.

Then again, Jacksonville appears to be comfortable with its current group of pass catchers, so Brown may not get many opportunities the rest of the way.

Ultimately, no general manager has a perfect track record, and not all the moves James Gladstone made in the offseason were going to pan out. The silver lining is that the Jags only signed Brown for one year and knew that there was a chance things weren't going to work out. And by benching him, the team's brass is acknowledging that they got it wrong.
