Left tackle is generally seen as the most valuable position on the offensive line because you're protecting your quarterback's blindside (unless you're a lefty). That said, the right tackle position is equally important, and the Jags don't have to worry about it because of Anton Harrison.
Although Harrison almost entirely lined up at left tackle in college, the Jags moved him to the right side, mostly because Cam Robinson was their blindside protector at the time. But even after Robinson left in 2024, Harrison has remained on the right side.
That said, the coaching staff is experimenting with Harrison, giving him reps at left tackle in training camp. This raised eyebrows because that would make him an option at the position in case incumbent Cole Van Lanen isn't ready for the regular season as he recovers from a knee injury he sustained late in 2025. There's no doubt that the idea sounds interesting, but vice president of football operations Tony Boselli just shut it down.
The Jaguars are playing Anton Harrison at LT to be ready for injuries
Anton Harrison took first-team reps at left tackle on Day 3 of training camp. When asked about it, Tony Boselli stated during an appearance on 1010 XL that the Jaguars are just rotating their offensive linemen in case injuries strike, pointing out that they did the same last year.
"We did the same thing last year. We move offensive linemen around during this period of time, and the reason why is: Look at last year when we had injuries; we did not miss a beat at the offensive line. Why? Because Walker Little could go from left tackle to right guard," Boselli said (26:21). "Cole Van Lanen played four positions for us last year: right tackle, right guard, left guard, and then ultimately at left tackle at the end of the year. We want that same flexibility. It has nothing to do with Cole at all."
Boselli continued, "Cole's on track. He's had a great offseason. He's coming back, and he's going to be strong. He'll be ready to go when the time's right. But we're just moving guys around, getting the feel. Anton, some people could argue is that his natural position. That's what he played at Oklahoma, and so, we wanted to get him some reps over there today. But you'll see guys that guard, tackle, different position, different mix of five because ultimately we want to get our best five on the field when we play the Cleveland Browns."
Watching Harrison play left tackle stands out, but Boselli is right when he says the Jacksonville offensive linemen played at different spots in last year's training camp. This is a long-winded way to say that you can take his word when he says the team is just preparing for injury.
You want your linemen to know how to play every position in case they're pressed into action. This is precisely why you may end up seeing Harrison at left tackle, but only if the Jags deal with injuries. For the time being, expect him to line up at right tackle next season.

Anton Harrison has come a long way since his rookie season. From the get-go, he flashed potential, with All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones going as far as saying that he had a bright future. But then, 2024 happened, and Harrison regressed. With a new regime taking over in 2025, he was under pressure to deliver.
Although Harrison was inconsistent in training camp — Chuma Edoga challenged him briefly for the right tackle job — he managed to put it all together and post his best season in the NFL.
Anton Harrison is now entering his second season under head coach Liam Coen. If he can take the next step, he'll at last get the recognition he deserves as one of the top offensive tackles in the NFL, even if he doesn't line up on the left side.
