Jaguars just made their long-term stance on Anton Harrison abundantly clear

• The Jaguars know where he's at his best.

The Jacksonville Jaguars brought back all their starters on the offensive line from last year but could be making a handful of changes up front. Specifically, both guard spots could be up for grabs. Similarly, sophomore Jonah Monheim could challenge incumbent Robert Hainsay for the starting job at center. If that wasn't enough, Cole Van Lanen is recovering from a knee injury he suffered late in 2025. The one position the Jags won't tweak is right tackle, and that's due to the presence of Anton Harrison.

After struggling a bit in 2024, Harrison proved to be an anchor last year. He now enters his fourth season in Jacksonville as the unquestioned starter. Head coach Liam Coen just confirmed as much with his latest remarks.

The Jaguars are keeping Anton Harrison at right tackle

Head coach Liam Coen met with the local media after Day 4 of Organized Team Activities. He said that Anton Harrison will take snaps at left tackle but remains the starter on the right side.

"Yeah, we actually did talk about a little bit last week," Coen responded when asked if there are any plans of having Anton Harrison get reps at left tackle (5:07 mark). "It's something that you don't want to mess with too much unless you're going to make it a change. I think you look at what Detroit's doing with [Penei] Sewell, I mean, that's to be a long-term change that they're making. Look, that was something that we wanted them to do a little bit throughout training camp.

Coen continued, "Specifically, I remember in the mock game we did it, and that was a little bit more to see how the guys would react and see what that would look like. We absolutely will do that again, but just also trying to get them, it's OTA four, so we're just trying to get a little bit more of that continuity and chemistry back before doing that."

The question was likely raised because Harrison mainly played left tackle in college. However, he switched to the right side when he went to Jacksonville in 2023, and there haven't been any serious plans to have him change sides.

Early in 2025, the Jaguars proved that Anton Harrison is part of their long-term plans when they picked up the fifth-year option on his rookie deal. Now, he's contract runs through 2027, and it may be a matter of time before the organization begins contract talks with him and his camp.

The Jaguars are just fine with Anton Harrison at right tackle

As the adage says, don't fix it if it's not broken. You could make the case that Anton Harrison is at his best at left tackle, but there's no point in having him switch sides now that he's grown accustomed to the right side.

After struggling a bit in 2024, Harrison made substantial improvements last year, giving up just one sack and 35 total pressures. On top of that, he posted a career-high Pro Football Focus grade of 73.2. Simply put, it wouldn't make sense to disrupt the continuity up front.

There's a strong chance that Anton Harrison would show out at left tackle if the Jaguars needed, but he's doing just fine on the right side, so that's where he'll stay for the foreseeable future, barring anything unexpected.
