The Jacksonville Jaguars have been eliminated from playoff contention but they're looking to finish the season strong. In Week 16, they'll be facing the equally struggling Las Vegas Raiders, another team that has had much going for them.

The game will be held at Allegiant Stadium, and the Jags are a 1-point underdog, meaning that bettors think it's going to be close. The trouble with getting behind Jacksonville is that they've faced what appeared to be beatable opponents throughout the year but ended up losing. Last week, they welcomed the flailing New York Jets at EverBank Stadium but failed to come through.

Working in the Jaguars' favor is that they have ample talent to come out on top. Brian Thomas Jr. has developed into a bonafide No. 1 while tight end Brenton Strange has proven to be a capable replacement for Evan Engram. The same is true for wide receiver Parker Washington, who's been filling in for Christian Kirk.

On defense, the Jaguars have a promising nucleus in Travon Walker, Josh Hines-Allen, linebacker Foyesade Oluokun, and cornerback Tyson Campell. Of course, the defense front will need to find interior pressure, something it's failed to do. Similarly, the backfield has struggled to contain opposing quarterbacks. Both units will need to step up against the Raiders.

Fortunately for Jacksonville, the Raiders are far from an offensive powerhouse. They have some talent across the offensive trenches but will probably be without guard Jordan Meredith. That doesn't bode well for sophomore quarterback Aidan O'Connell, who's back in the lineup after missing last week's game with a knee injury.

O'Connell has been far from great this season, completing 63.2 percent of his throws for 899 yards with four touchdowns and three interceptions. He took over at quarterback when Gardner Minshew suffered a collarbone injury that sidelined him for the year in Week 12. Then again, it doesn't matter who's behind center for the Raiders, as they have rookie sensation Brock Bowers in the fold.

Bowers, a first-round pick in this year's draft, has 90 receptions for 968 yards with four touchdowns. There's a strong chance he'll cross the 1,000-yard mark against Jacksonville. Speaking of, Thomas has a shot to become the first Jaguars rookie to post more than 1,000 receiving yards.
