The Jacksonville Jaguars only sent two players to the 2026 Pro Bowl games: Long-snapper Ross Matiscik and Second-Team All-Pro linebacker Devin Lloyd (alternate). You could make the case that kicker Cam Little should have also gotten an invitation after nailing a pair of attempts from 65+ yards last season, but that's a discussion for another time. Either way, the Jags will probably tune in to keep tabs on a handful of players.
Defensive tackle is among Jacksonville's biggest needs this offseason, and there's one player attending the Pro Bowl that could take care of it.
The Jaguars need to keep an eye on Jeffery Simmons in the 2026 Pro Bowl
Many of the players who were selected to the 2026 Pro Bowl are scheduled to become free agents. Devin Lloyd is among them, but is far from the only one. Tyler Linderbaum will be in demand if the Baltimore Ravens let him hit the open market. The same is true for Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens.
Unfortunately, the one player the Jaguars would love won't be available in free agency: Defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons. Even worse, he plays for the dreaded division rival Tennessee Titans. Nevertheless, he would be the perfect trade target.
Now, interdivision trades are rare. After all, why would you want to play against one of your players twice a season unless you think it won't backfire? Then again, they're not unheard of. Just last year, Jacksonville sent wide receiver Christian Kirk packing to the Houston Texans. Sure, this doesn't mean the Tennessee Titans will gift-wrap Simmons to the Jags, but it would be huge.
Tennessee ousted head coach Brian Callahan in 2025 and hired Robert Saleh to replace him earlier this year. In regard to the move, Simmons believes a change of culture is always good, but you can bet that he's frustrated with the turnover his team has dealt with since Mike Vrabel was shown the door in 2024.
A first-round pick in 2019, Simmons has become one of the top defensive tackles in the NFL, making the Pro Bowl four times and earning three All-Pro designations (twice Second-Team and one First-Team). He's appeared in 99 games with 97 for the Titans and registered 42.5 sacks the past seven seasons.
Trading for Jeffery Simmons is likely a pipe dream for the Jaguars
The Jaguars don't have a first-round pick in 2026 after trading up for Travis Hunter last year. To land Jeffery Simmons, they would have to possibly give up a second and a fourth this year, or their first in 2027. The truth is that it wouldn't be a hefty price to pay for him because Jacksonville lacks a game-changer at defensive tackle. That said, the compensation wouldn't be the bigger roadblock to acquiring the former Mississippi State Bulldog.
As noted before, Simmons plays for the divison foe Titans. Tennessee would probably hang up the phone if James Gladstone inquired about him. That alone would halt negotiations before they even started.
Still, the prospect of poaching Jeffery Simmons from the Titans is fascinating, as unlikely as it may be.
