The Jacksonville Jaguars did a good job of replenishing the roster in the offseason. However, not all the moves they made panned out. This understandable, as no general manager has a perfect track record. James Gladstone is no different.

Signing wide receiver Dyami Brown to a one-year deal worth $10 million in free agency might've been Gladstone's biggest miss. The silver lining is that he's slated to become a free agent, so the Jags no longer have to worry about him. On the other hand, they'll need to decide what to do with another dud they signed in the offseason. Based on how he's played, the best course of action is abundantly clear.

The Jaguars shouldn't hesitate to release Chuma Edoga

When the Jags signed Chuma Edoga to a two-year deal worth $7 million, they did it with the intention of adding depth on the offensive line. However, things didn't go the way they expected.

Although Edoga shone in offseason workouts and later had a strong impression in training camp, he struggled once the regular season started. Even though he barely got any playing time, he committed a concerning five penalties when he got on the field. Not surprisingly, the former USC Trojan has gotten minimal playing time in recent weeks.

Couple that with the fact that Jacksonville is getting healthier across the trenches, and it's hard to picture Edoga returning in 2026. Releasing him would leave $1 million in dead money but also free up $3 million in space.

The Jaguars can withstand Chuma Edoga's potential departure

Given that the Jaguars are slated to have around $8 million in space, Chuma Edoga will be a prime candidate to get the cut. Even if the team's brass needs to add depth, it can easily turn to the draft to beef up the offensive line. But even if the Jags prioritize other position groups, they also have Wyatt Milum and Cooper Hodges in the mix.

Milium suffered a knee injury late in training camp that made him miss the start of the season. He's barely gotten any meaningful playing time but could compete for a bigger role next season. On the other hand, Hodge has dealt with injuries the past three years, so he'll need to show he can stay healthy. Nevertheless, he's flashed in limited opportunities.

Ultimately, the Jaguars will need to keep addressing the larger scale roster if they want to enjoy sustained success. And for that to happen, they'll need to make several cuts next season. Chuma Edoga shouldn't give them a tough decision, though.
