The NFL offseason continues to take shape with signings, cuts and trades galore. The most recent and notable signing saw the New York Giants finally end their waiting game with Aaron Rodgers and, instead, sign veteran quarterback Russell Wilson.

This will wind up having massive implications for the Jacksonville Jaguars in terms of the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Giants needed a quarterback, but we weren't sure if it would end up being Rodgers, Wilson or neither. Should the Giants have not gotten either, then they'd have Jameis Winston and Tommy DeVito plus a rookie, in all likelihood.

But, would that rookie have been selected at no. 3 overall by the Giants? That's the big question.

Now that Wilson is a Giant, that essentially cements the idea that New York is not going to take a quarterback at the third overall pick. And, with the Jaguars sitting at no. 5 overall, they could come up just short of a top target.

The Giants just officially slammed the door shut on Jacksonville landing Travis Hunter

Hypothetical situation had the Giants not signed Wilson:

Pick 1 (TEN) : Cam Ward, QB, Miami
Pick 2 (CLE): Abdul Carter, DE, Penn State
Pick 3 (NYG): Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado
Pick 4 (NE): Mason Graham, DT, MIchigan

Would the Patriots really have passed on Travis Hunter in order to select Mason Graham? It might sound crazy, but Graham is the best defensive tackle in the draft and viewed as a top-5 prospect, so it's not crazy.

But now, Graham looks like he'll be completely out of the realm of possibilities for the Jaguars. The Giants will undoubtedly take Hunter at no. 3 overall, thus leaving Graham for Mike Vrabel and the Patriots' taking.

At this point, do the Jaguars entertain trading down with a team who might want to select Sanders? That could make sense, unless Jacksonville wants to shoot for the stars and go with someone like Tyler Warren or Jalon Walker at no. 5 overall, which might be a little too soon for either.

Jacksonville is now in the perfect position to try and trade out of the pick at no. 5, if the first four are indeed Ward, Carter, Hunter and Graham. Otherwise, it could feel like the Jaguars might be reaching with whomever they take.

There's potentially a team who would want to ensure they get Ashton Jeanty ahead of the Raiders at no. 6, so that's a possible trade scenario for Jacksonville as well. At this point, be prepared for absolutely anything.
