The Jacksonville Jaguars are undergoing a rebuild. Sure, they haven't outright said it, but it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and talks like a duck (is that even possible), there's a strong chance it's a duck.
Following an underwhelming 2024 season, the Jags dismissed head coach Doug Pederson. A few weeks later, they also gave Trent Baalke his walking papers. After an extensive search, they hired Liam Coen and James Gladstone to take their respective places. And while the duo has gushed about the talent they'll be working with, they also made a statement when they moved on from several players.
Who's out for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2025?
Throughout the offseason, wide receiver Christian Kirk and tight end Evan Engram were the subjects of trade speculation. Days ahead of free agency, their faith became clear.
It was reported that the Jags were going to release Kirk, but the Houston Texans suddenly emerged as a potential trade partner, so they sent the former Texas A&M Aggie packing to their division foes in exchange for a seventh-round pick in 2026.
Just hours after the news broke that Jacksonville was trading Kirk, a report surfaced that they were releasing Engram, along with cornerback Ronald Darby, return specialist Devin Duvernay, and wide receiver Josh Reynolds.
But wait, there's more, veteran Mitch Morse announced his retirement, so center just became another need the team's brass will need to address ahead of free agency.
It's worth noting that all these transactions allowed the Jaguars to add over $20 million in cap space to the amount they already had for a grand total of $60.9 million. That's more than enough to make a handful of moves in free agency. And with that in mind, here's a look at every move the Jaguars are making in this year's free agency.
Make sure to constantly check this tracker, as it will be routinely updated the next couple weeks.
Jaguars signings/additions in 2025 free agency:
Less than a week before free agency, Jason Fitzgerald of Over the Cap reported that the Jaguars had given offensive lineman Cole Van Lanen a one-year tender.
Because Van Lanen was only active for one game in his rookie season, he only has three accrued seasons, and thus is a restricted free agent. Jacksonville used the original round tender of him, so if another team makes him an offer and it isn't matched, the Jags will get a draft pick.
