Although the Jacksonville Jaguars have already played the Houston Texans twice this season, they still have four divisional games left on the schedule. The next one will be against the 1-10 Tennessee Titans.
The Jags are 7-4 and coming off a two-game winning streak. A win over the dreaded Titans will allow them to keep up with the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC South race. Moreover, it will increase their odds of qualifying for the playoffs. And precisely for that reason, Jacksonville cannot afford to overlook its divisional foe.
The Jaguars cannot afford to lose a trap game vs. the Titans
Heading into the game, Liam Coen met with the local media. He said that the team is fully aware of what's at stake, pointing out that Tennessee has enough talent to pull off the upset.
"I hope not, it's these guys. I think they understand as much as anything," Coen said when asked if the holiday weekend could be a distraction. "With a division game, this is a team that you just watch the tape, which doesn't lie typically, this is not a team that thinks you're playing like they're 1-10. I mean, that's the reality. And so, they have enough game records and players that can impact the game in all three phases that we cannot feel."
Coen continued, "There's just no room for that. And so I hope and believe that we are mature enough and honest enough with ourselves and with each other, that this is a team that you know is going to be hungry for a win. There's a lot of reasons, and it's the NFL. Like, there's a lot of pride in what we do and for us as well, like this is another great opportunity and test to go again on the road in division as you head into late November, early December, these are football games that we need to win."
