The Jacksonville Jaguars held a joint practice with the Carolina Panthers before these two interconference foes play in Week 2 of the preseason. Head coach Liam Coen was pleased with his team's performance, which could make him change his original plan for the game.
Coen wanted to play the starters against the Panthers, but he's no longer sure after the joint practice. If he changes his mind, there's a chance the starters will no longer see the team until the season opener when Jacksonville faces the Cleveland Browns. This would come with a few pros and some cons.
By sitting out Trevor Lawrence and the starters, the Jaguars wouldn't be exposing them to unnecessary injury risk. Moreover, players on the bottom half of the depth chart. On the other hand, they could benefit from getting a few snaps to get used to getting hit and the speed of the game.
