The Jacksonville Jaguars will face the Cleveland Browns in Week 1 of the regular season. They're looking to defend their AFC South crown after finishing 13-4 last year. A win in the opener would most definitely help them get off to a strong start.
Although the Jags aren't taking Cleveland lightly, they're in a great position to come out on top. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, they're currently an 8.5-point favorite for the game, so they would have to suffer a meltdown to lose.
With this in mind, here's everything you need to know for the game.
Jaguars injuries vs. the Browns in Week 1
Running back LeQuint Allen Jr. (hip), offensive lineman Cole Van Lanen (knee), and wide receiver Jakobi Meyers (thumb) popped up on the injury report in the days ahead of the game. Left tackle Anton Harrison joined them Friday, but Allen was the only one of the four to get a designation for the game.

Meyers had already stated that he would be good to go, so the news isn't particularly surprising. Meanwhile, Van Lanen and Allen will be game-time decisions, though. If the former isn't good to go, veteran Ameer Abdullah will fill in for him as the pass-blocking specialist and a pass-catcher behind Bhayshul Tutem and Chris Rodriguez Jr.
On the other hand, if Van Lanen sits out the game, Walker Little will make the start at right tackle. That said, the fact that he didn't get a designation bodes well for his availability.

The Jaguars promoted Nick Mullens from the practice squad
The Jaguars traded for Quinn Ewers before the cutdown deadline to bolster their depth at quarterback. Not surprisingly, they released Nick Mullens, the primary backup behind Trevor Lawrence in 2025, to pave the way for him.
What was a bit surprising was to see Jacksonville sign Mullens to the practice squad. Then again, the coaching staff had to bring Ewers up to speed, and with the regular season just around the corner, he wasn't going to have enough time to be fully prepared.
Head coach Liam Coen stated during the week ahead of the opener that he wasn't sure who would be QB2 behind Lawrence. Based on the fact that the team just promoted Nick Mullens to the active roster via standard elevation, it's fair to assume that he'll get the nod, and Ewers will be inactive.
