It's not often that punters get the spotlight. If they're brought up at all, it's often because the offense played so well that their teams didn't have to use them. However, Logan Cooke showed that punters can be as tough as any players when the Jacksonville Jaguars trounced the Tennessee Titans in Week 13.

In the midst of the game, Titans running back/special teamer Julius Chestnut got into a skirmish with Jaguars safety Andrew Wingard. Cooke was having none of it and came to Dewey's defense.

The skirmish went viral precisely because punters are physical. And based on Chestnut's remarks after the game, the exchange was more heated than it originally appeared.

Jaguars P Logan Cooke made a threat to Julius Chestnut

In the aftermath of the Titans game, Julius Chestnut said that he was just minding his business when Logan Cooke approached him and threatened him.

"I don't really know why the punter did that, honestly," Chestnut told Blaine Kellar of Main Nashville Street. "I was just trying to play hard, and he came up to me, said he was going to kill me. So I don't know what made him do that."

Chestnut goes on to say he was just playing hard like always and doesn't truly know what prompted Cooke to get so pissed up.

"I don't think it was any frustration. I think it was just us playing hard, and me and the other guy was just playing hard. And I think he just wanted something to say, honestly, I have no idea... No, I have no idea I was playing hard. He came with me. I don't know what, what made him do. That might have been couple plays before and and I made a block on him. Maybe I don't know what made him want to do that. But yeah, that was surprising to me. I never seen nothing like that before," Chestnut said.

You could argue that Chestnut is playing dumb because you can see how, after a play, he has Wingard against the ground. And once Cooke caught wind of it, he went to bat for him. You can click on the link to see the exchange.

An undrafted free agent in 2022, Chestnut mostly plays special teams for the Titans. What made the brawl so memorable was that once Cooke stood up for Wingard, he went to the sidelines and was caught napping.

Jaguars HC Liam Coen is pleased with Logan Cooke's edge

Since the Jaguars made him a seventh-round selection in 2018, Logan Cooke has been a staple of their special teams. Heck, he's been named team captain three times throughout his career (2022, 2024, and 2025). It's fair to say that his teammates and the new regime think highly of him.

Head coach Liam Coen, for his part, said after the game that he was pleased with the edge Cooke and the rest of the team showed, pointing out that he needs to be smarter but understands that tension was building up.

"They had an edge, for sure. I'd like Logan to be a little smarter there on the one where he got hit on," Coen responded when asked about the unsportsmanlike call Cooke was flagged for. "But there was some frustrations that were being built up with them, rushing us the way they were with the long snapper issue."

Coen continued, "And we thought like that we were maybe roughed, potentially rough at one point. I think, I don't know if I got called or not, but I was just proud of those guys for competing, but we got to continue to be smarter."

Below's Coen's full exchange with reporters. His remarks about Cook start at the 2:01 mark.

So now you know it. If you ever get in trouble, you know Logan Cooke has your back. Conversely, you don't want to make him angry.
