Even though the Jacksonville Jaguars didn't play in Week 7, they managed to gain ground in the AFC South, as every other team in the division lost. The Jags are back from their break and will have a prime opportunity to keep building their lead when they play the hapless Indianapolis Colts in Week 8.

The Colts are 2-5 and currently showing no signs of getting better this season. Heck, they let everyone know that they're punting on the season when they ousted general manager Chris Ballard, who failed to replenish the Indianapolis roster and left it devoid of talent. Following the dismissal of Ballard, Indy has gone on to hold a fire sale, sending All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson to the Seattle Seahawks in return for a 2027 third-round pick and a fifth in 2028 days before the Jaguars game.

While the Nelson trade could incentivize the Jags to make a push for defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, they cannot lose sight of the task at hand, which is beating the dreaded divisional foe. And with this in mind, here are the early odds for Week 8 and a bold Parker Washington prediction.

The Colts vs. the Jaguars early odds for Week 8

The game will be held at EverBank Stadium, where the Colts have lost 11 consecutive games. Not surprisingly, the Jaguars are a 7.5-point favorite with a moneyline of -395, via DraftKings. Bet $395 on them to win $100 if they beat Indianapolis for a total payout of $495. The Colts' moneyline sits at +310. Place a wager of $100 and win $310 if they beat Jacksonville for a total payout of $410.

The over/under for the game is set at 49.5 points.

One of the biggest storylines surrounding the Jaguars in the offseason was that they opted not to make a big splash in free agency because they wanted to take care of their homegrown talent. Thus far, they locked up long snapper Ross Matiscik, defensive end Travon Walker, cornerback Montaric Brown, and tight end Brenton Strange, so you could make the case that general manager James Gladstone achieved the goal. That said, Parker Washington is still waiting on an extension.

A sixth-round pick in 2023, Washington showed flashed his first two seasons but was stucked behind Christian Kirk. Jacksonville paved the way for him to start when Kirk was traded to the Houston Texans. Right off the bat, Washington became a key contributor on offense, registering 58 receptions for 807 yards with five touchdowns, all career bests, last year.

Washington wasted no time picking up where he left off last year, racking up 26 receptions for 416 yards with four touchdowns. The former Penn State Nittany Lion is on pace to register the first 1,000-yard season of his career and should have no trouble getting the top-market contract he's been looking for.

Although the Jags reportedly offered Washington $25 million per year before Week 1, he rejected the offer. It's possible that he's aiming for an annual average of $30 million. Based on his production, he may be able to get it, and he'll have a prime opportunity when he plays the Colts.

Already, Washington posted his first 100-yard game of the season against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 5. He'll get his second one in Week 8 when he registers seven receptions for a monster 140 yards with two touchdowns against Indy.
