The Jacksonville Jaguars were able to win 13 games and seize the AFC South in 2025 partly because Trevor Lawrence like a top-10 quarterback to finish the year. The expectation is that he's going to build off his impressive season and show consistency moving forward, something he's lacked throughout his career. The good news is that No. 16 should have no trouble pulling it off.

Lawrence won't be rehabbing an injury or have to learn a new system this offseason. Similarly, he won't have to tweak his footwork like he did last year. When you add it all up, it's easy to picture his 2025 play to carry over into next season. Dan Orlovsky or ESPN thinks it will, but believes he'll need help from one of his teammates.

Trevor Lawrence needs Brian Thomas Jr. to bounce back to eleveate the Jaguars

Dan Orlosky just stated that he believes Trevor Lawrence can put together another good season but will need Brian Thomas Jr. to bounce back after an underwhelming 2025.

"He has to, Orlovsky told colleague Laura Rutledge when asked if he can elevate his game next season. "Trevor hasn't put together two really good seasons. I think 22 was his first and best like breakout year, and then 23, it was just okay. Last year, phenomenal season. And can he do it again? To do it again, he's going to need Brian Thomas Jr. to take a massive step forward. Okay, so if we go to 2024 and Brian Thomas Jr., you're talking about a stat line that had 133 targets, 87 catches, almost 1,300 yards, and 10 touchdowns, led the NFL, third in the NFL, excuse me."

Orlovsky continued, " You go to last year, 91 targets, so we're talking almost 50 targets less, only 48 catches for 700 yards and two touchdowns. That's some massive drop, so I'm high on Jacksonville, but I'm high on Jacksonville because I sit there and go 'too talented of a quarterback and too talented of a receiver' to repeat their 2025 stat line. Both those guys, Trevor's got to do it again, Brian Thomas Jr. got to get back to that 2024 form."

This assessment is encouraging because Orlovsky doesn't think Lawrence has to hone his mechanics, decision-making, or whatnot. Instead, he expects Thomas to get back to form.

After all, both of them are entering their second year under Liam Coen. As the head coach recently stated during a recent exchange with the local media, the focus is now to refine key elements of the football and push the ball downfield more often.

Parker Washington and Brian Thomas Jr. give the Jaguars a pair of playmakers

Brian Thomas took the league by storm as a rookie, but struggled with drops and inconsistency last year. The fact that he ran a limited route tree didn't help matters. However, the 2024 first-round pick has been working on his rapport with Lawrence. That should increase his productivity.

The good news is that the Jaguars have shown unwavering support for Thomas, and it doesn't look like he's going anywhere after being the subject of trade chatter in the offseason. That vote of confidence should help him focus on once again becoming the player he was in 2024.

Keep in mind that Jakobi Meyers, Parker Washington, and Travis Hunter are also in the mix. If all of them take their game to the next level, Trevor Lawrence will have no shortage of weapons to light up the scoreboard.
