Chiefs give Jaguars a real option as Brian Thomas Jr. trade buzz grows

That would make sense (if the price is right)

Although the Jacksonville Jaguars could trade Brian Thomas Jr. at the November 10 deadline, he still appears to be part of their plans, at least against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 7. Then again, the Jags have made it clear at different points of the year that he isn't going anywhere. On the other hand, if they change their mind, the 2024 first-round pick will have no shortage of suitors.

The Washington Commanders and the New York Giants would be intriguing destinations for Thomas because of his LSU connection to Jayden Daniels and Malik Nabers, respectively. That said, the Kansas City Chiefs, a team in the AFC, could make a strong push for him because they're in desperate need of help at receiver.

Adam Schefter report the Chiefs could trade for a wide receiver

Adam Schefter of ESPN made an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show and stated that the Kansas City Chiefs are looking for options at receiver. Here's the skinny.

"They have been calling around, and I don't think it would be a surprise to see them continue to attempt to add a wide receiver before the trade deadline two weeks from tomorrow," Schefter told host Pat McAfee (1:06:42 mark). "Whether they can get it done, we'll see."

Schefter had previously reported in early October that the Chiefs were open to trading for wide receiver help, and this isn't the first time they've been linked to them. It makes sense when you take into account that Rashee Rice suffered a hamstring injury in Week 4 and has missed the last three games.

Without Rice, the Chiefs' passing game has struggled to get going. In the loss to the Seattle Seahawks, Patrick Mahomes threw for a measly 165 passing yards, and only 34 of those were to receivers. Brian Thomas Jr. could most definitely provide an instant boost at receiver and rebuild his stock under head coach Andy Reid.

While Thomas has struggled this season, he would immediately be Kansas City's top option in the passing game. Of course, he wouldn't be the only option in the trade market, and Schefter never named him on McAfee's shows. That said, nobody would bat an eye if the Chiefs reached out to Jaguars general manager James Gladstone to see what it takes to get a deal done.

The Jaguars may not trade Brian Thomas Jr. to the Chiefs unless the price is right

One reason the Jaguars may want to trade Brian Thomas Jr. to the NFC (if they make him available) is that they wouldn't have to face him in the playoffs. Meanwhile, there would be a risk of having to play against him if they sent him to the Chiefs, the Las Vegas Raiders, or even the Buffalo Bills.

Granted, the Jags would also face Thomas if they traded him to the Giants or Washington, as they're set to play both clubs later this season. On the other hand, Jacksonville might not care where the former LSU Tiger ends up as long as the final offer is good enough.

Of course, there's always a chance that the Jaguars keep Brian Thomas Jr. the reminder of the year, but if that's the case, the trade buzz won't stop anytime soon.
