After having to sit out Day 1 of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars continued to wait in the second round. This means that some of the players they could be targeting continue to get off the board. And just right now, the Arizona Cardinals selected an offensive lineman out of Texas A&M that would've solidified Trevor Lawrence's protection up front.

With the 34th overall selection, the Cards selected offensive tackle Chase Bisontis. That leaves the Jags without one target to beef up the offensive trenches.

Why it would have made sense for the Jaguars to draft Chase Bisontis

The former Aggie could line up at offensive tackle or guard, but is projected to play inside in the NFL. Although he doesn't have great lateral agility and has to work on his hand usage, he would have given the Jacksonville interior offensive line a boost.

Bisonis was No. 45 in Fansided's top-50 board, so you could make the case that Arizona overdrafted him. Conversely, he would have been a huge pick if he had been available when the Jaguars are on the clock.

The silver lining is that, as of this writing, several hog mollys remain on the board. The Jags could target either Gennings Dunker or Austin Barber with their picks. Heck, they could even address other needs in the second round and beef up the offensive line in Rounds 3 and 4.

Why do the Jaguars need to bolster the offensive line?

While the Jaguars don't have a bad offensive line, they could most definitely use upgrades, especially on the interior. Robert Hainsey is a fine starter, but he's far from an All-Pro talent. On the other hand, Patrick Mekari struggled to make the switch to right guard full-time. Some of that was due to injuries, so there's a chance he could bounce back. Nevertheless, it wouldn't hurt to add insurance in case he doesn't.

It's also worth noting that starting left guard Ezra Cleveland is slated to become a free agent. So even with Wyatt Milum in the mix, the best course of action would be to replenish the line of scrimmage.

Circling back to Chase Bisontis, it would've been huge to see Jacksonville make an attempt to trade up for him. Similarly, they lost defensive tackle Kayden McDaniel to the dreaded rival Houston Texans, so general manager James Glastone had better be cooking something. Then again, it's possible that neither McDaniel nor McDonald was on the team's radar.

That had better be the case. Otherwise, the Jaguars are in for a long night. Of course, the narrative will change if they come out of Day 2 with a game-altering talent, but for the time being, they just saw a couple of intriguing prospects go to other teams.
