The Jacksonville Jaguars lost to the Houston Texans in Week 6. Working in their favor is that they'll next have their BYE, so they'll have ample time to regroup. Heck, the Jags don't have to make big changes in order to get back on track. They already have a solid core of playmakers in place, and that was evident in their second London effort.
Walker Little stepped up at left tackle in relief of Anton Harrison, while Travis Hunter showed just how much of a game-changer on both offense and defense. Having said that, a handful of other players failed to come through. Of course, the loss doesn't solely fall on them, but they didn't help either.
These five, in particular, left much to be desired in the loss.
5 players whose stock is plummeting after the loss to the Texans in London
Josh Hines-Allen, pass rusher
Josh Hines-Allen has previously talked about how he wants to be the Defensive Player of the Year and discussed in the same breath as Myles Garrett, T.J. Watt, and some of the best pass rushers in the league. However, his production hasn't matched that of his peers, and he's left much to be desired this season. In six games, the 2019 first-round pick has logged 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and 20 total tackles.
Against the Texans, Hines-Allen had three total pressures but wasn't able to create big plays. You could argue that C.J. Stroud simply got rid of the ball too quickly, but if that was the case, why would the Jags even try to bring the heat? That's like saying that a quarterback shouldn't throw the football just because he's facing a tough secondary.
Playmakers make plays for their teams, and Hines-Allen isn't making many for the Jags in spite of being one of the highest-paid pass rushers in the NFL.
Emmanuel Pregnon, offensive guard
Like most rookies, Emmanuel Pregnon is going to deal with growing pains in his first NFL season. He most definitely had a learning experience against the Houston Texans. Although he didn't give up a sack, he did allow three total pressures.
Compounding the issue was that Pregnon posted a Pro Football Focus run grade of 42.3. Simply put, it wasn't a good day for the former Oregon Duck. The good news is that he should only get better as the year progresses.
DaVon Hamilton, defensive tackle
DaVon Hamilton was a good reason the Jaguars excelled at stopping the run to start the season and last year. However, they gave up more than 100 yards rushing to Houston for the first time since 2025. Ham certainly played a role in the disappointing outing.
The veteran defensive tackle posted a PFF run grade of 56.6, his second-lowest this season. On top of that, he missed three tackles. When you add it all up, the Texans had no trouble getting their running game going.
Jarrian Jones, cornerback
All of the Jaguars' cornerbacks struggled in Week 6, even Travis Hunter, who picked off C.J. Stroud in the end zone. However, Jarrian Jones was probably the worst of the bunch. Not only did he have a hard time keeping up with Jaylin Noel, but he also missed three tackles.
Jones surrendered six catches for 100 yards. Not surprisingly, he posted a team-low PFF grade of 42.8. Maybe he could see a drop-off in playing time once Montaric Brown is back.
Brian Thomas Jr., wide receiver
Several receivers struggled with drops because of the slippery conditions on the Wembley field. That said, most of them still made plays. That wasn't the case for Brian Thomas Jr., who had two huge opportunities to help his team but came crashing down on both.
First, Thomas had a chance to give the Jaguars a fresh set of downs. He later could have caught a pass in the end zone that would've put Jacksonville in field goal range just before halftime. The 2024 first-round pick failed to reel in the football in both instances. Not surprisingly, he didn't get any offensive snaps in the second half.
It's hard to tell what's next for Thomas, since his struggles with inconsistency and drops date back to last year. With the trade deadline inching closer, a fresh start somewhere else shouldn't be ruled out.
