In past year, the Jacksonville Jaguars have entered training camp with question marks at several position groups. That won't be the case in 2025. While they could still use reinforcements on the interior defensive line or the pass rush, the rest of the depth chart looks in good shape.
This is noteworthy because the Jags have caught lots of heat for not being aggressive in the offseason. However, the team's brass didn't have to make a splash because it expects several players to step up next season.
These five players, in particular, have positioned themselves to do just that after boosting their stock in the offseason program.
Brian Thomas Jr., Jaguars wide receiver
After being at the center of trade speculation early in 2026, Brian Thomas Jr. has looked like the receiver who took the NFL by storm as a rookie in the offseason program. He made several jaw-dropping plays at Organized Team Activities, and it hasn't gone unnoticed by his coaches and teammates.
Last year, Thomas struggled with drops, but he's working diligently to fix the issue. Coupled that with the fact that he's now healthy after dealing with injuries in 2025, and the former LSU Tiger is poised to give opposing defenses trouble next season.
Jabbar Muhammad, Jaguars cornerback
Every year, there's a player who comes out of nowhere and takes everyone by surprise. Jabbar Muhammad is that player this year. Then again, he's been honing his skills since the Jaguars signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2025, so you cannot truly say that he suddenly popped up. It's just that the former Oregon Duck has been the most improved Jaguars player from last year.
Anyway, Muhammad turned heads on nearly every offseason practice. That said, the DeSoto, Texas native routinely practiced with the second and third teams, so he'll need to prove that he can go toe-to-toe with the first team. If he does, he'll secure a roster spot.
Tanner Koziol, Jaguars tight end
Most of the attention is on second-round pick Nate Boerkircher, but he wasn't the only tight end the Jaguars drafted in 2026. They also picked Tanner Koziol in Round 4, and he wasted no time making an impression at OTAs, using his long frame to reel in catches.
While Koziol needs to improve as a blocker, he can definitely carve out a niche as a red-zone target. But if the former Houston Cougar can become a well-rounded tight end, Jacksonville will have no choice but to give him playing time.
Branson Combs, Jaguars linebacker
Jabbar Muhammad isn't the only sophomore who's made huge strides. Branson Combs has also shown notable improvement after also going undrafted in 2025. The former Wake Forest Demon Deacon did enough in the offseason program to potentially compete for a starting job, whether this year or next.
Ventrell Miller will most likely end up starting next to Foyesad Oluokun in 2026, but if Combs keeps improving, he can replace him if he leaves next year.
Trevor Lawrence, Jaguars quarterback
Unlike past years, Trevor Lawrence wasn't the subject of speculation, and his future in Jacksonville is no longer in doubt. Instead, he's been discussed as a potential MVP candidate. That's because No. 16 played like a top-10 quarterback to finish 2025, and he's not dealing with injuries like he did in 2025.
Not having to rehab injuries or tweak his footwork, Lawrence has been able to focus on taking his game to the next level. If he keeps building off his strong offseason, nobody will bat an eye if he starts the season hot.
