After a much-needed break, the Jacksonville Jaguars will continue preparing for the regular season when they show up for training camp. While the team's brass looks for ways to strengthen the roster, several players will be under the spotlight as they compete for either a spot or a prominent role.
Already, a handful of players took advantage of their opportunities in the offseason and appear to have lots of momentum going into training camp. These five, in particular, stand out.
Jabbar Muhammad, Jaguars cornerback
The Jaguars have a good track record of finding undrafted games. Just last year, Danny Striggow and B.J. Green II made the initial 53-man roster after not hearing their name on draft day. It took him a bit longer, but cornerback Jabbar Muhammad has a chance of cracking the team next season.
Like Green and Striggow, Muhammad went undrafted, but he spent his rookie season on the practice squad. Having honed his skills, the former Oregon Duck is one of the most improved players from last year and has a legitimate chance to earn a roster spot.
Josh Cameron, Jaguars wide receiver
The Jaguars have built an electrifying wide receiver corps. Led by Parker Washington, Jakobi Meyers, and Brian Thomas Jr., Trevor Lawrence will have no shortage of targets next season. But as good as the top of the receiver depth chart looks, the bottom half also looks in good shape due to the presence of Josh Cameron and CJ Williams.
Both rookies flashed in minicamp but may ultimately get limited opportunities next season because of how stacked Jacksonville is at the position. Having said that, Cameron could carve out a niche as a returner to take some pressure off Washington, who'll tentatively have a bigger role on offense next season.
J'Mari Taylor, running back
Bhayshul Tuten was one of the highlights of the offseason program, but he wasn't the only running back who stood out. Undrafted rookie J'Mari Taylor made the most of his opportunities and even showed the ability to break off big runs.
The former Virginia Cavalier will have his work cut out to make the team. He'll have to outperform fellow running backs Ammer Abdullah and DeeJay Dallas, but he helped himself with a strong outing in mandatory minicamp and Organized Team Activities.
Tanner Koziol, tight end
All eyes will be on Nate Boerkircher, the team's first pick of the 2026 draft, when the Jags take the field, but fellow rookie Tanner Koziol could make some serious noise. Koziol made several jaw-dropping catches throughout the offseason program and earned more opportunities in training camp.
The former Houston Cougar needs to work on his blocking, but that's where the coaching staff comes in. If they can help him hone that area of his game, he'll get lots of playing time even if he's behind Boerkircher and Brenton Strange on the depth chart.
Branson Combs, linebacker
Even though the Jaguars let Devin Lloyd walk in free agency, their linebacker corps is in good shape. Ventrell Miller is expected to step into Lloyd's starting spot next to Foyesade Oluokun, but sophomore Branson Combs could push him in training camp.
Combs signed with Jacksonville after going undrafted in 2025 and began the regular season on the practice squad. However, the Jags promoted him to the active roster when another team showed interest in him.
Fast forward to 2026, and Combs is one of the most improved players from last year. He turned heads in the offseason program and has virtually secured a roster spot. Even if Miller ends up starting next season, Combs should get lots of opportunities if he can build off his offseason momentum.
