4 critical observations from the Jaguars' humiliating loss to the Rams

• That was most definitely embarassing.

Just one day after the loss to the Seattle Seahawks, the Jacksonville Jaguars flew to London to prepare for their Week 7 game against the Los Angeles Rams. On paper, the extra time would allow them to get acclimated to the time zone and be ready to take on their NFC West foe. In practice, it didn't matter. The Jags looked unprepared and sloppy in the 35-7 loss.

What's infuriating is that the Rams didn't make the trip across the pond until Saturday. However, they didn't suffer from any notable jet lag. Now, the Jaguars sit at 4-3 heading into the BYE, and while it's not time to press the panic button yet, they should most definitely be concerned about the underwhelming outing in Week 7.

With this in mind, here are four critical observations about the embarrasing loss to the Rams.

The Jaguars at last unleash Travis Hunter

Before the game, Liam Coen said that Travis Hunter would have a bigger role on offense moving forward. Although he logged 29 snaps at receiver, he got his first touch right before halftime. And it wasn't until the game was out of reach that the Jaguars decided to unleash him.

Then, the third quarter came, and the reigning Heisman Trophy winner showcased his big-play capability, logging three catches for 30 yards and moving the chains twice. When the game was already out of reach, he had another catch for 21 yards. Then, he registered his first touchdown of his NFL career. By the end of the game, he had registered 101 yards on eight catches.

The talent is certainly there, which makes you wonder what took Jacksonville so long.

On defense, Hunter only began to get snaps until the second half, and even then, he barely got any snaps even though he's more than held his own when he's been thrust into action this season.

It's clear that the Jaguars aren't getting the most out of Hunter's potential, and they need to use their BYE to figure out how to change that.

The Jaguars have a Cam Little issue at kicker

Even the best kickers miss a field goal every now and then, so when Cam Little failed an attempt against the Houston Texans, the Jaguars didn't fret. Fast forward to Week 7, and it's time the team starts to get worried if it hasn't already.

Against the Rams, Little failed a 50-yard attempt. It's now his fourth miss this season. This is alarming when you take into account that he only had two misses as a rookie. As Jacksonville enters the BYE, it must assess what to do at the position. It's clear that something is wrong. Bringing in a kicker to push the sophomore is probably the best course of action.

The Jaguars defense fails to record a turnover

For the second straight week, the Jaguars didn't create a takeaway after registering 14 in the first five weeks of the season. Anthony Campanile's unit was the talk of the town early in the season and rightly so. Jacksonville had one of the worst defenses in the NFL last year but showed notable improvement in the first few weeks. However, things have cooled down considerably since then.

The lack of takeaways has exposed the defense's flaws. They can't cover tight ends, they cannot bring the heat, and gave up 35 points to a Rams offense that was without star receiver Puka Nacua. Sure, linebacker Devin Lloyd missed the game, and it's hard to make a stand when you have to spend more time than you want on the field.

Nevertheless, it's clear that the Jaguars defense has taken a massive step back the past three weeks. Campanile must go back to the drawing board.

The Jaguars offense was even worse than the defense vs. the Rams

Somehow, the defense wasn't the Jaguars' biggest issue in Week 7. Trevor Lawrence completed less than 50 percent of his throws. He didn't seemingly have any timing or rapport with his receivers. Of course, it wasn't all on him. Drops plagued the team throughout the day. The offensive line couldn't block.

Not surprisingly, Jacksonville managed a measly seven points, and suddenly, a team that showed promise early in the season finds itself riding a two-game losing streak.
