The Jacksonville Jaguars can work magic with the 24th overall pick

The Jacksonville Jaguars are going to make the 24th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. That is a long way away from making the first overall pick as they did in both 2021 and 2022. Clearly, they are improving now.

The Jaguars have a quarterback and multiple different positions ready to go for next year and beyond. That includes Trevor Lawrence who was a big reason for their success last year. Now, it is about making some magic happen with this 24th-overall pick.

For one, the Jaguars can certainly trade it. There are some desperate teams in this league and the Jags don’t need to be one of them. A lot has gone well for them in the recent past and now it is time to keep building.

If they trade the pick, it will likely be right at the pick where a team sees someone they like and they trade up to get him. Other teams like to overpay when they want someone in that situation which is where the Jaguars can shine.

The Jags could also just make the selection. There are going to be some really good players available to them at this pick. Obviously, the best player available (not a QB) should be the mentality right now.

There are going to be some good options at tight end right in that area if they don’t re-sign Evan Engram in addition to some other positions that the Jaguars could use some help at. It is all going to depend on the run of players that go from 1-23. Once the draft starts, chaos will ensue.

There will also be some edge rushers and wide receivers to consider for the Jaguars as well. As mentioned before, this team is good but far from perfect so just about anything should be on the table for them.

One idea that nobody talks about either is trading up. The Jaguars have some of the assets necessary to do so if there is someone that they want that won’t fall to them at 24, they can go after him. This is a franchise that needs to start taking some risks to become a winning team.

We can only hope that whatever they do, it shows the world that the Jags are coming and won’t be going away for a long time.

They were a nice Cinderella story for a while there but the goal is to win so much that everyone starts to root against them. Drafting well can make that a reality over time and it has a chance to be started on a good note with pick 24.
