The Jacksonville Jaguars keep racking up points against the Houston Texans, leading 28-3 in the second half. They’ve taken advantage of their favorable matchup against their division foes and several players have either reached individual milestones or set franchise records. One of them is tight end Evan Engram, who set a team record for yards in a season by a tight end.

Kyle Brady previously held the record with 729 yards in 2000, per the Jags’ PR official account on Twitter. This isn’t the first time Engram has broken a team record. Not long ago, he also broke Brady’s record for receiving yards by a tight end in a game with 162 against the Tennessee Titans in Week 14.

Also, Etienne has crossed the 1,100 yards mark for the season. He entered the game with 1,000 and against the Texans in the first half, he toted the rock nine times for 108 yards with one touchdown. The former Clemson Tiger gave the Jags a 14-0 lead when he broke off a 62-yard touchdown run.

Given that JaMycal Hasty, who also scored a touchdown in the first half, has gotten most of the workload in the second half, it’s highly unlikely that Etienne will return to the field.
Not to be outdone, rookie Snoop Conner also scored the first touchdown of his NFL career on a three-yard run. Although he gave the ball to the official after scoring, he quickly recognized the importance of the moment and managed to get it back. Here’s the clip of Engram setting the franchise record for receiving yards by a tight end in a season.

The Jaguars are close to putting the Texans away in Week 17

Doug Pederson told the media Wednesday that the Jaguars would go full steam against the Houston Texans, and true to his word, no player rested… that is until the third quarter. Once Jacksonville had built a favorable lead, Lawrence was pulled and backup C.J. Beathard took his place in the lineup. Hasty is also getting most of the workload in the second half and there’s a chance other players will follow suit.

Although the Jags weren’t able to shut out the Texans, they’re close to putting an end to a nine-game losing streak to their divison foes. Also, this will be the first time the Jags get to eight wins since 2017. What a great way to start the year!
