Trevor Lawrence is having a pretty good year, which isn’t surprising to those that have followed his football career. Yet, it was fair to ask whether he was going to be able to bounce back from an underwhelming rookie season. The former Clemson Tiger has put all doubts to rest with his outstanding play and is a big reason the Jacksonville Jaguars have a realistic shot at making the playoffs.

Lawrence is playing at a high level. You could argue he’s a top-10 quarterback and nobody will bat an eye. Yet, he’s still looking for his first win against the Houston Texans. The sophomore is 0-3 against the division foes, which is kind of surprising when you consider how good the Jags have been this season and how bad Houston has been this year.

Then again, the Texans have been playing close games in recent weeks and aren’t yet ready to throw in the white flag despite the fact that they’re 2-13 in 2022. That makes them dangerous, which is why Trevor Lawrence will bring his A-game to NRG Stadium. With that in mind, here are three prop bets you might like for Week 17, via BetMGM.

3 prop bets you might like for the Jaguars vs. Texans in Week 17

QB Trevor Lawrence, over 1. 5 touchdowns (-125)

Lawrence didn’t have a single passing touchdown against the New York Jets in Week 17 but he’s thrown 14 and just one interception since Week 9. Although it’s expected to be a bit chilly, it won’t rain or snow when the Jags face the Texans. This should allow Lawrence to have a great outing.

Houston has one of the worst defenses in the league, so Lawrence scoring two passing touchdowns at -125 seems doable. Picking him to throw 242.5 at -125 seems equally safe.

There’s a chance Lawrence will be pulled out if the Jaguars are winning by a wide margin but that might only happen late in the third quarter or the fourth, so he’ll have enough time to rack up yards and touchdowns.

WR Christian Kirk, over 50.5 yards (-110)

Wide receiver Christian Kirk is 12 yards away from registering the first 1,000-yard season. He’s also closing in on several contract bonuses. Although the Texans’ defense ranks first in touchdowns allowed in the season, they are 15th in passing yards allowed, so the Jags should be able to move the ball threw the air.

Knowing Kirk is close to crossing the 1000-yard mark, there’s a good chance the Jags will do anything they can to help him reach the milestone, so expect him to have a big game in Week 17.

Jaguars beat the Texans by 7-12 points (+475)

It’s been a while since the Jags beat Houston. To be precise, the last time they beat their division foe was in the distant year of 2017. Having said that, past success (or failure) isn’t an indicator of future outcomes.

Even though this will game won’t have an impact on the Jags’ chances of making the playoffs, head coach Doug Pederson refuses to call this a meaningful game. Expect them to build momentum into the 2022 season, so it’s hard to see him them taking the foot off the pedal until they build a significant lead. That’s why Jacksonville beating the Texans by at least seven points doesn’t feel particularly risky.
