Jaguars WR Christian Kirk scores vs. Texans, other prop bets for Week 5
For once in 2022, the Jacksonville Jaguars are favored to win a game. Then again, it’s not really surprising when you take into account that the 2-2 Jags will take into a Houston Texans team that hasn’t been able to earn a single victory this season.
Having said that, Jacksonville isn’t taking the Texans lightly. They know running back Dameon Pierce could be a headache if they don’t contain him early in the game. Similarly, Houston’s secondary had fared well against the pass, so Week 5 will be far from a walk in the park.
On the other hand, the Jaguars are trending in the right direction and should be incentivized to beat Houston after losing (due to self-inflicted wounds) to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4. With this in mind, here are three player props you might like for the game, via WynnBET.
Jaguars vs. Texans: 3 prop bets you might like in Week 5
1. TE Evan Engram, first touchdown scorer (+1,000)
Before Week 4, the Jags had no trouble finding the end zone and there are a few players that have become important pieces in their offensive puzzle. Running back James Robinson has proven to be his reliable self while Christian Kirk has become the No. 1 receiver he was expected to be.
Tight end Evan Engram has also given Trevor Lawrence a dependable target in the middle of the field. Although he hasn’t scored this season, he’s been getting a robust amount of snaps over the last four weeks.
Engram had a touchdown reversed in Week 3 but had a two-point conversion in the same game. It feels like a matter of time before he reaches the end zone, and betting $100 on him to score the first touchdown in Week 5, will get you $1,000 for a total payout of $1,000.
2. WR Christian Kirk, 1 touchdown (+110), 2 touchdowns (+650)
Wide receiver Christian Kirk only hauled in two catches on nine targets against the Eagles but he tallied 60 yards on those receptions. In the first three games of the season, he had 18 receptions, so it’s fair to assume that he should have no trouble bouncing back in Week 5.
The former Arizona Cardinal had two touchdown receptions against the Indianapolis Colts and it wouldn’t be shocking if he has the same amount against the Texans. If you don’t think he will only reach the end zone once, you can place a bet of $100 on him and still come out with an extra $110.
3. RB James Robinson, 63 rushing yards or more (-125)
Sure, the return on this prop isn’t as big as the other two but is still worth it. Running back James Robinson had a season-low eight carries against Philly but he had 20 against Los Angeles the week before. Looking back, it was an outlier and not a sign of things to come.
Simply, the Jaguars didn’t have enough snaps and couldn’t get the running game going in Week 4, so expect Robinson to bounce back against the Texans and get 17 carries or more and 100 yards on the ground.
