The Jacksonville Jaguars are good, and you can write that in pen. See, the Jags had plenty of upside due to the presence of Trevor Lawrence and the arrival of head coach Doug Pederson earlier this year. However, it was hard to tell how much they were going to improve following one of the worst seasons in franchise history.

But after four weeks of NFL football, Jacksonville has proven to be a well-rounded team with a legitimate chance to make the playoffs in 2022. Sure, playing in a weakened AFC South helps but Lawrence has made important strides and Pederson has been everything the organization expected and then some.

While it’s true that the Jaguars had a down game against the Philadelphia Eagles, they have enough talent to bounce back and get ready for a playoff push late in the season. Is it too early to start talking about the postseason? Maybe, but analysts are starting to take them seriously, why wouldn’t everyone else? With this in mind here are five predictions for Jacksonville’s Week 5 matchup against the Houston Texans.

5. The Jaguars’ defense will register 6 sacks vs. the Texans in Week 5

The Jaguars’ defense has already logged nine turnovers this season, which is as many as they had last year. Defensive coordinator Mike Caldwell deserves plenty of credit for the work he’s done since taking over.

On the other hand, the Jaguars must pick up the pace when it comes to sacks this season. So far, they’ve brought down opposing quarterbacks nine times, which is not bad but it’s not great either.

The left side of the Texans’ offensive line is pretty stout, with Laremy Tunsil at tackle and rookie Kenyon Green at guard. However, Jacksonville’s defense will find a way to take quarterback Davis Mills down six times.
