Coming off a 3-14 season, the bar isn’t set particularly high for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2022. Doubling their win totals from last year would represent a big step in the right direction, but is there a chance the Jags exceed expectations?

The Jaguars are currently a longshot to qualify for the playoffs in 2022 but there’s a chance they could sneak in if these five things happen.

Even though James Robinson was coming off a productive rookie campaign in 2020, the Jaguars’ brass still drafted Travis Etienne 25th overall last year. Unfortunately, the former Clemson Tiger missed his whole rookie year with a Lisfranc injury.

With Etienne out for the season, Robinson was once again the team’s lead back. However, Urban Meyer refused to make him an important part of the offense, and didn’t get as many carries as he should or could. To make matters worse, Robinson tore his Achilles towards the end of the season.

Even though Etienne is 100 percent, Robinson is still recovering and might not be available by the start of the regular season, so it will probably be a while before the two share the Jaguars backfield.

But here’s the deal. If Etienne is the playmaker he was at Clemson and Robinson makes a full recovery, the Jaguars could have one electrifying running back duo. They will need to stay healthy throughout the season but their presence would take some pressure off Trevor Lawrence’s offense, as opposing defenses will be forced to defend both the run and the pass.
