Travon Walker and other Jaguars who must step up vs. Eagles in Week 4
Winning a football game in the NFL is hard and the Jacksonville Jaguars know this better than anyone else. Since 2008, they’ve gotten more than six victories in a season once. On the bright side, it looks like they’re turning the corner.
After falling to the Washington Commanders in the season opener, they’ve beaten the Indianapolis Colts and the Los Angeles Chargers in consecutive things. But things are going to get significantly harder in Week 4 when they take on the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Jags are currently a 6.5-point underdog and the Eagles are way healthier than the Bolts were last week. If Jacksonville wants to earn their third win of the season, these five players will need to shine.
No. 5 Jaguars player who must shine vs. the Eagles: Travon Walker, OLB
The Jaguars’ defense has done a good job of creating pressure up front. Against Los Angeles, Mike Caldwell’s unit logged 31 pressures. If they can generate the same amount of heat Sunday, they might just have a chance.
Outside linebacker Josh Allen is leading the league in pressures with 16, so it’s fair to say that Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen will look for ways to slow him down. The rest of the Jags’ front seven will need to pick up the slack and rookie Travon Walker will need to show out.
Walker had a pretty good outing in Week 1, logging a sack and an interception. However, he’s cool down a bit since then. He’s still having an impact and teams are already starting to double him. In fact, he’s posted three total pressures in each of the last two games in spite of the extra attention he’s getting.
Against the Eagles, he will need to contain the edge and avoid letting quarterback Jalen Hurts take off for a big run.
