Bailey Zappe could be available for the Jaguars in the 2022 draft.

Another prospect that didn’t crack the aforementioned list, Bailey Zappe, might be an option in the third round, maybe even in the fourth.

The six-foot-one, 220-pound quarterback threw for a ridiculous 62 touchdowns at Western Kentucky last season. An impressive 69.3 completion percentage also stands out for Zappe.

Of course, Zappe benefited from a high-volume passing offense in college, something he wouldn’t see with the Jaguars. You could compare his game to that of Baker Mayfield. The ball leaves his hands quickly, but it’s not sacrificed for accuracy. In other words, he’ll make the throw, but it’ll be gone before you realize it. He scans the field while keeping an eye on the pocket. Also, possessing above-average awareness in the pocket will help him in the pros.

If he’s available, why wouldn’t you take a flyer on him? Again, none of these prospects should take the starting job from Lawrence, unless Meyer did irreversible damage in his lone NFL coaching season, which is not likely based on how he played against the Indianapolis Colts in the season finale. There’s nothing wrong with the new Jaguars’ management coming in and drafting their own signal-caller in addition to having Lawrence in-house.

Anything can happen at the NFL draft, the Jaguars surprising their fans with a third or fourth round could occur.
