The Jacksonville Jaguars came close a few times but they didn’t earn their first win of the 2021 season until Week 6. Make no mistake, it was huge, as it validated all their hard work.

There’s a video making the rounds of social media where you can see how ecstatic the team was about earning their first victory in more than a calendar year and putting an end to a 20-game losing streak. Also, you can see how Jaguars’ players embrace head coach Urban Meyer, which is reassuring when you take into account that reports about him losing the locker room surfaced just a few weeks ago.

Now, the Jaguars have their work cut out, and winning one game was just the beginning of a lengthy process. They now need to show they can compete week in and week out. For that to happen, the team’s brass should consider acquiring a few players ahead of the trade deadline to fortify a few position groups, including the next three.

Jacksonville Jaguars unit that could use upgrades No. 1 – Wide receiver

The Jaguars have a couple of playmakers in Mavin Jones Jr. and Laviska Shenualt Jr. Moreover, Jamal Agnew is developing into a fine player. However, the Jags could add a few players to round out their wide receiver corps.

After hailing in a combined six receptions the previous two weeks, Tavon Austin caught one pass for no yards against the Dolphins. The Jaguars already lost DJ Chark to a fractured ankle and losing Jones and Shenault would be a big blow, one they may not be able to withstand. That’s why they should err on the side of caution and add a wide receiver before the trade deadline.
