Jacksonville Jaguars 53-man roster projection ahead of training camp
The Jacksonville Jaguars started free agency with a bang, making several key additions. They then keep acquiring players in this year’s draft but things have slowed down since then. Other than signing tight end Tim Tebow and wide receiver Laquon Treadwell, they haven’t done much of note.
There are still a few players available that the Jags could sign. There are also a few trades they could make but it looks like they will roll into training camp and probably the regular season with the talent have in place. The team’s brass is surely focused on evaluating the current roster.
Even though the Jaguars refrain from going into a splurge in free agency, they acquired several players that will play an important role this upcoming season. They also brought back several players who were set to become free agents.
Last season, plenty of the Jaguars’ 2020 late-round picks had to play because they lacked depth at several positional groups. Quarterback Jake Luton, cornerback Chris Claybrooks, and wide receiver Collin Johnson were some of the players that were thrust into the field because of injuries. This year, the coaching staff may be able to bring the rookie class slowly.
Other than quarterback Trevor Lawrence, most of Jacksonville’s 2021 draft picks will probably begin the season on the bench. Offensive tackle Walker Little, cornerback Tyson Campbell, safety Andre Cisco, and even defensive tackle Jay Tufele could join the starting lineup at some point of the 2021 season.
On the other hand, there won’t be enough room for everyone, and some players that were on the roster last year may not come back in 2021. Here’s a projection of the Jaguars’ final 53-man roster ahead of training camp.
