After finishing 1-15 in 2020, the Jacksonville Jaguars have plenty of work to do this offseason if they want to turn things around. To their credit, they knew that they needed to make significant changes after having just one winning season in the last 13 years. They gave their coaching staff and front office a makeover and hired Urban Meyer as their head coach and Trent Baalke as their general manager on a permanent basis.
Fortunately, the Jaguars’ brass will have a surplus of resources to add difference-makers to a roster that was devoid of talent last season. They will have 11 draft selections, including the first overall, in the 2021 NFL Draft. Moreover, they will have $77 million in cap space (the final number could be a bit higher or lower) and will have the ability to sign a few impact players in the open market.
Furthermore, even if the ‘Jags’ make a couple of splash signings in free agency, they will have enough money left to make a few other additions. Last season, their roster lacked depth and it showed in the second half of the season. At one point, it seemed like half their starters were on the Injury Reserve list and although these five free agents will not garner as much attention as others, they could still help the Jaguars in 2021.
