This Jacksonville Jaguars team will have a fair share of choices in the draft.

Heading into the offseason, quarterback is the most pressing position need for the Jacksonville Jaguars. None of the signal-callers they currently have on the roster seem to be the answer and they will probably take one early in next year’s Player Selection Meeting. While Ohio State’s Justin Fields could be their choice, Florida quarterback Kyle Trask is trending up after beating Tennesse.

The team announced after their Week 13 overtime loss to the Minnesota Vikings that Mike Glennon will be their starting quarterback in Week 14, who has been a mixed bag these past two weeks. While they could reverse course and give Gardner Minshew II a chance to start down the road, it somehow feels like this team just wants to be done with this season and start looking for their quarterback of the future.

If that’s truly the case, it’s understandable. After all, they have dropped 11 straight games and have been on the wrong end of close losses in four of the five past games. At this point, they could just want to hit the reset button and start over. The offseason will provide them that opportunity.

This Jacksonville Jaguars team is projected to have the second overall pick in 2021’s draft and another first-round choice in the 20s, the second of two selections they received from the Los Angeles Rams in 2019 after trading cornerback Jalen Ramsey. The New York Jets hold the first overall pick and even if they take a quarterback with their selection, there still will be other prospects left on the board.

Kyle Trask is making it hard for the Jacksonville Jaguars to pass him up.

Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence is seen as the best quarterback prospect in 2021’s draft class, and Ohio State’s Justin Fields is believed to be a not-too-distant second. Then, there’s Kyle Trask of the Florida Gators.

Trask is probably rising up on draft boards after leading the Gators to a 31-19 victory over the Tennessee Volunteers and clinching the SEC East and a spot in the Championship Game against Alabama.

All in all, Trask was 35-of-49 for 433 yards and four touchdowns. Keep in mind this wasn’t an isolated performance. The Gators quarterback has played at a high level all year and is a favorite to earn win the Heisman Trophy. Beating the Crimson Tide and earning the award would help him solidify his place on draft boards.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will do what’s best for the team.

Let’s say the Jets draft Trevor Lawrence with the first overall selection, the ‘Jags’ could easily take Justin Fields with the following pick. However, it isn’t as simple as turning the card with his name on it. The team’s brass has to go through an extensive period of evaluation and have to scout other prospects. Kyle Trask comes to mind and so does Zach Wilson of BYU.

The Jaguars will take their time to break down all of them and see which one may be the best fit. You may have a personal preference or a disdain for one in particular, but in the end, there will be in process in place to ensure the team chooses the one they think will give them the best chance to win and Kyle Trask could be that player.
