The Jacksonville Jaguars must make the right decision.

Doug Marrone isn’t a bad head coach per se. His players play hard for him and the Jacksonville Jaguars even reached the AFC Championship in 2017 with him leading the way. Nevertheless, he’s had five years to turn this team into a perennial contender without much success, so it may be time to ‘mutually part ways’.

The Jaguars have already told Marrone that he’s safe for the remainder of the year and won’t be fired in spite of losing 11 consecutive games. Keep in mind that relieving him of his duties wouldn’t accomplish much at this point of the season, and it won’t make much of the difference whether he’s given the pink slip in a week or at the end of the season.

Once the Jaguars part ways with Marrone, they will have a vast pool of candidates to choose their next coach from. Some of them will be new to the process and others are grizzled veterans, but while it’s tempting to bring in someone with experience, the team must refrain from signing any of these former NFL head coaches.
