Despite the adversity, the Jaguars have a lot to look forward to.

The Jaguars have lost 10 games in a row and could very well lose their eleventh on Sunday (Dec 6th). This is easily a morale killer but Jacksonville really does have a reason to stay confident.

The Jags have done well holding their own against playoff-contending teams this season. They beat the Indianapolis Colts by seven, lost to the Tennessee Titans by three, the Green Bay Packers by four, and the Cleveland Browns by two. Considering how young the Jaguars roster is and how the offense and defense have struggled, this feat is promising. The level of competitiveness for this team is high, the success has just been low.

Imagine what they can do against playoff-caliber teams with sound coaching, play-calling, and experience—all of which they have a chance to gain next season.

Jaguars to face a promising rebuild

To start, the Jaguars need to clean house and bring in a whole new coaching staff. Doug Marrone has been at the helm since he took over as interim head coach in 2016 but it’s clearly time to move on. The Jaguars are a young team and with that, they need a young coach. Maybe Jacksonville will get cheeky and manage to land former LSU passing game coordinator and current Carolina Panther’s offensive coordinator, Joe Brady, as their next head coach of the franchise. Or they can go out and poach a talented coach like brian Daboll, Robert Saleh, or Eric Bienemy.

The Jaguars are expected to have the most cap space in the NFL when the offseason arrives. While this free agency class isn’t that deep, it still allows Jacksonville the opportunity to add much-needed veteran depth to the team.

Jacksonville also has 11 picks in the 2021 NFL Draft—seven of those are within the first four rounds—to help push their rebuild forward. So while things may be disappointing for the franchise right now, there really is a future for Jacksonville.
