The Jaguars suffered their 10th straight loss of the season.

The Jaguars dropped to a disappointing 1-10 after losing at home to the Cleveland Browns. It was a close game but Jacksonville just couldn’t put together a winning performance. It got bad enough that the team fired general manager Dave Caldwell following the game.

Jaguars defense was beat

The Jaguars defense started out with a bang against the Browns. They sacked Baker Mayfield on the first play and had a tackle for loss on the following play to ultimately force the Browns to punt on a three-and-out.

It didn’t take long for Cleveland’s offense to adjust to how Jacksonville’s defense was playing. In the end, the Jaguars secondary couldn’t keep up with the Browns passing game. Cleveland ended up climbing the field on several big throws due to Baker Mayfield’s ability to excel at play action. Jacksonville just couldn’t stop them.

Jaguars offense did well but it wasn’t enough

Jacksonville consistently moved the ball on offense against Cleveland and did a good job at balancing the running and passing game.

Mike Glennon looked comfortable in his first start of the season and was the veteran presence the Jaguars have missed on offense. He did struggle at times and missed some throws but it’s unsure whether that was due to miscommunication or not. He finished with solid stats, completing 20 out of 35 passes and throwing two touchdowns. The Jaguars even managed to lead the Browns 19-17 early in the third quarter.

Final takeaways from Jaguars 10th loss

Players like James Robinson continue to put in a great effort for this team with nothing in return. If I were Robinson, I would sit out the rest of the year. The morale for this team has to be at an extreme low. It didn’t take long after today’s game for owner Shad Khan to fire general manager Dave Caldwell, and while the coaching staff is staying put, for now, I expect the franchise to start with a clean slate next year all around.
